Social and academic interests are growing about adolescents' game-, the maladaptive game-use from this, and how individuals' self-control change during the developmental stages. In this study, the changes in these variables for domestic adolescents were calculated using the domestic adolescents game behavior dataset provided by the Korea Creative Content Agency from 2014 to 2017. Using the second-order latent growth curve model with developmental stages and gender as covariates, we calculated the longitudinal change rates for them. Resultingly, the game use tendency and the degree of maladaptive game use of all adolescents continued to increase, and self-control decreased. However, the trend was evident only in the group of elementary school group as the early-adolescents, but not in the middle school group as the mid-adolescents and the high school group as the late-adolescents. Self-control was lower in girls though they have low maladaptive game use tendency than boys.

청소년의 게임 이용 정도와 그 결과인 과용 정도, 그리고 개인의 자기통제 성향이 이 시기에 어떻게 변화하는지에 대 해 사회적, 학술적 관심이 커지고 있다. 이 연구에서는 국내 청소년의 이들 변수의 변화를 한국콘텐츠 진흥원에서 제 공한 2014년부터 2017년까지의 4년간 국내 청소년의 게임 이용 행태 데이터를 이용하여 계산하였다. 분석 모형으로는 2차 잠재성장곡선 모형을 이용하여 종단적 변화율을 계산하고 초기, 중기, 후기 청소년 그룹과 남녀차이를 공변량으 로 설정하여 이들을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 전체 청소년의 게임 이용 시간, 게임 과용 정도는 지속 증가하고, 자기통제 성은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 그런데 그 경향은 초기 청소년에 해당하는 초등학생 그룹에서 분명하게 나타났으나, 중기 청소년 즉, 중학생 그룹과 후기 청소년인 고등학생 그룹에서는 그렇지 않았다. 자기 통제성은 게임 과용 경향이 낮은 여학생에게서 더 낮게 나타났다.
