Korean Gwangbokgun (Korean Independence Army) was the only regular army of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, which had fought for Korea’s independence until the moment of Japanese defeat. This paper provides analysis on the 『First album of Gwangbokgun’gajip』 which was published and distributed by the Second District Propaganda Committee of Korean Gwangbokgun in 1943. The 16 songs that consist the 『First album of Gwangbokgun’gajip』 are considered to be the essence of anti-Japanese songs which were continuously sung in the Chinese region from the 1910s, when the independence movement at the earnest, and the 1940’s, when Gwangbokgun was founded and active. The songs include military songs of a powerful tone symbolizing direct anti-Japanese movements, lyrical songs containing the nostalgia and love for the nation, and songs that borrowed melodies from Korean traditional Min’yo (folk songs). A notable feature of the songbook was that the composer and lyricists of the songs were actual active members of the Korean Gwangbokgun. The musical significance that lies in the 『First album of Gwangbokgun’gajip』 is that the producers of the songs were actual acting members of the anti-Japanese movement that fought in the front line of the battle. There also lies a historical significance that the anti-Japanese songs that were sung throughout the history of the independence movement in Chinese region had transcended beyond space and time to be consolidated into a single songbook. Yet the largest meaning that could be derived was that the Korean Gwangbokgun was the producer of the only war songbook, which no other independence movement organizations had made during the history of Korean liberation movements.

한국광복군은 일제가 패망하는 순간까지 조국의 자주독립을 위해 활동하였던 대한민국 임시정부 산하의 유일한 정규군이다. 본고는 한국광복군 제2지대 선전위원회에서 1943년에 제작ㆍ배포한 『광복군가집 제1집』을 조명하였다. 『광복군가집 제1집』에 수록된 곡은 본격적인 독립운동이 펼쳐지던 1910년대부터 한국광복군이 창설되어 활동한 1940년대까지 중국지역에서 지속적으로 불렸던 항일가요의 결정체가 담겨 있다고 볼 수 있다. 노래의 유형은 직접적인 항일투쟁을 상징하는 힘찬 곡조의 군가, 조국 그리움이나 독립의 염원을 담은 서정 가요, 그리고 곡조 차용의 한국민요 등이 모두 포함되어 있다. 특히 한국광복군 소속의 대원이 군가집 의 가창자이면서 소유자이고, 또 수록곡을 직접 만든 작곡자와 작사자이기도 한 것은 이 군가집이 지닌 주요한 특징이기도 하다. 따라서 『광복군가집 제1집』에는 항일투쟁의 전선에서 활동한 인물이 직접 참여하여 항일노래를 만들었 다는 음악적 의의가 있고, 다른 한편으로는 중국지역에서 진행되었던 독립운동사의 흐름 안에서 불렀던 항일노래가 시대와 공간을 초월하여 이 군가집에 모아졌다는 역사적 의의가 있다. 일제강점기 한국독립운동사 안에서 어떤 독립운동단체에서도 제작한 바 없는 유일한 항일노래의 군가집을 한국광복군이 만들었다는 점에서 큰 가치를 찾을 수 있었다.
