This Literature Review(paper) focuses on one of the short story ≪ Hong Tao Story≫of Liu Meng Yan Short Stories Collection “On the Wild Tan” on the later stages of North Korea in 1621. The research novels are Liu Meng Yan’s ≪Hong Tao Story≫; Xuan Bing Zhou’s ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫; also, Yi Bai Nan’s ≪ The half-life of Hong Tao≫. ≪Hong Tao Story≫is a novel created in the late period of North Korea in 1621. ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪The half-life of Hong Tao≫ is a novel that was created in late 19-20 century. ≪Hong Tao story≫ was created after Imjin War, but ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪The Half-life of Hong Tao≫ was created while the Japanese invasions of Korea time period. Therefore, this paper will discuss what changes occurred from the 17th century Hong Tao story into the 20th century. First, we will compare ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪The Half-life of Hong Tao≫ to ≪Hong Tao Story≫, discovering the Similarities as well as disparities. Then by comparing the two novels ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪The Half-life of Hong Tao≫ to see the similarities and disparities in modern novels. Lastly, exporting the significance of the modernity changes of the navels. The process of this study is as follow: First, introduction analysis, it is a great researching by viewing the research of the navels and the navels time period. In Chapter 2, Through the navels passages compared ≪Hong Tao Story≫, ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪ The Half-life of Hong Tao≫ similarities and disparities. In Chapter 3, Through character changes in ≪The Life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪The Half-life of Hong Tao≫ and changes in the navels structure a finer comparison was made. In Chapter 4, point out how classical novels turn to modern novels and the evolution of Korea's modernization and internationalization. Conclusion, indicated comparison between ≪Hong Tao Story≫ by using Imjin War as writing background with ≪The life of Hong Tao≫ and ≪The Half-life of Hong Tao≫ which written in Japanese invasions of Korea.

본고는 조선후기 1621년 유몽인의 단편소설이며 ｢어우야담｣에 수록된 작품 ｢홍도전｣ 중에 나온 홍도서사가 1920년대 들어오면서 어떤 변환이 있는지에 초점을 맞추었다. 주로 유몽인의 작품 ｢홍도전｣, 현병주의 작품 『홍도의 일생』 그리고 윤백남의 작품 『홍도의 반생』 총 3편의 작품이 있다. ｢홍도전｣은 1621년 조선후기의 작품이고 『홍도의 일생』과 『홍도의 반생』은 1920년대 후반에 창작된 작품이다. ｢홍도전｣은 임진왜란 직후에 창 작되었고 『홍도의 일생』과 『홍도의 반생』은 일제강점기 상황에 창작하였 다. 그래서 본고는 17세기에 홍도서사가 20세기에 들어오면서 서사적으로 어떤 변환이 있는지 살펴봤다. 먼저 『홍도의 일생』과 『홍도의 반생』 두 작품은 ｢홍도전｣과 비교하면서 홍도서사가 어떻게 같고 어떻게 다르게 변 환했는지 살펴봤다. 그 다음에 『홍도의 일생』『홍도의 반생』 두 작품에 비교를 통해서 현대적인 홍도서사에 공통점과 차이점을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 홍도 서사의 현대적 변환의 의의를 도출하고자 했다. 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행되었다. 먼저 서론 부분에서 세 작품에 대한 선행연구를 소개하며 작품 연구 현황을 살펴보고 선행연구와 작품의 창작 시기의 특수성을 통해 연구의 필요성을 제시하였다. 2장에서 세 작품의 서 사 단락, 등장인물을 비교함으로서 『홍도의 일생』, 『홍도의 반생』 ｢홍도전 ｣ 세 작품 대략적으로 공통점과 차이점을 제시했다. 3장에서 『홍도의 일생』, 『홍도의 반생』 두 작품을 인물변환양상, 서사변환양상, 서사 구성양상으로 나누어서 비교하였다. 4장에서 고선소설 현대적 전환의 의의를 밝히고 홍도서사의 변천 과정에 나타나는 한국의 현대화 국제화 과정이 작품을 통해 반영되는 것에 의미 두었다. 마지막 결론에서 임진왜란을 배경으로 삼아 가족의 이합을 다룬 ｢홍도전｣이 일제강점기라는 냉혹한 현실에 살고 있는 작가들에 의해 『홍도의 일생』과 『홍도의 반생』이란 작품으로 변환해 왔다는 의미를 밝혔다.
