This study examines the roles and images of women depicted in the Italian films during the era of the economic miracle. This article sheds light on how Italian women's roles have changed along with the social fluctuations of economic miracle as well as on how society viewed women. We also focus on how Italian popular films during the economic miracle illustrate women, drawing attention to the roles and images of women of the period. First of all, we will examine the traditional status and role of Italian women. Next, we will look into the role of women on which the fascist regime imposed through the fascist feminine policy, and the image of women presented in white telephone films. In addition, we will review how neorealist movies after the war depicted women. And we will analyze the images of women depicted in the films of “commedia all’Italiana” during the economic miracle. Lastly, we will compare how the images of women of the era of the economic miracle differ from those of the previous period. In conclusion, it can be said that women in the period of economic miracle were confined within the fence of the family, and thus their roles were reduced from the previous period. And it can be said that the image of a woman has been expanded from the image of a wife and mother to an image of a sexual object.

본 연구는 경제기적 시기 이탈리아 영화에 나타난 여성의 역할과 이미지를 고찰하기 위한 것이다. 본 연구를 통해서 우리는 경제기적이라는 사회변동 속에서 이탈리아 여성들의 역할이 어떻게 변화했고, 사회는 여성들을 어떻게 바라보았는가를 살펴보려 한다. 이를 위해 우리는 경제기적 시기에 제작된 대중영화들이 여성을 어떻게 표현하는가를 살펴보고 이를 통해서 당시 여성의 역할과 이미지를 고찰한다. 이를 위해 먼저 이탈리아 여성의 전통적인 지위와 역할을 가족법이라는 구조 속에서 살펴본다. 다음으로 파시즘 체제의 여성정책을 통해서 파시즘이 바라보는 여성의 역할을 살펴보고, 백색전화영화에 나타난 여성의 이미지는 어떠한 것이었는지를 살펴볼 것이다. 또한 전쟁 직후 네오리얼리즘 영화들은 여성을 어떻게 표현했는지를 살펴볼 것이다. 마지막으로는 경제기적 시기 ‘이탈리아식 코미디’ 영화 속에 나타난 여성의 이미지를 분석한다. 이를 통해서 당시 여성의 이미지가 이전 시기의 그것과 어떤 차이가 나는지를 비교할 것이다. 결론적으로 경제기적 시기 여성은 가정의 울타리 속에 가두어짐으로써 이전 시기보다 역할이 축소되었음을 알 수 있다. 다음으로 여성의 이미지는 아내와 어머니로서의 이미지에서 성적 대상이라는 이미지로 확장되었음을 알 수 있다.
