Categories of hierarchial and interpersonal meanings are universal characteristics shown in most of languages and play an important role in human social activities. The problem that there is little discussion on these parts has been raised in studies on modern Chinese language. This thesis analyzed participants in conversations reflected in 『Kong Yiji』, a novel by Lu Hsun who is a Chinese writer and described and analyzed linguistic realization methods which carry out hierarchial and interpersonal metafunctions in discussion in the novel. This study could be found the hierarchial and interpersonal meanings are generally realized by lexical methods in Chinese language and are being carried out as lexical formality and its differences create the hierarchial relationship in the thesis. This study is meaningful in development of linguistic understanding of the literary works, the study on hierarchy in systematic functional linguistics, and the study on honorification expressions of Chinese language.

위계성 상호관계적 의미 범주는 대부분의 언어에서 나타나는 보편적 특징이며, 또한 인간의 사회활동에서 중요한 역할을 감당하는 범주이기도 하다. 현대 중국어 연구에서 이 부분에 대한 논의가 부족하다는 문제가 제기되어 왔으며, 이 논문에서는 중국 작가 루쉰의 소설 『쿵이지』에서 반영되는 대화참여자 관계를 분석하고, 소설 담화에서 위계성 상호관계적 메타기능을 수행하는 언어적 실현 방법들을 기술하고 분석했다. 이러한 연구를 통해 이 논문에서는 중국어에서 어휘의 격식성 여부 및 그 차이가 위계관계를 만들어 냄으로써 이 기능을 수행하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 문학작품에 대한 언어적 이해와 체계기능언어학에서의 위계성 연구 및 중국어의 높임 표현 연구 발전에 의미가 있다.
