This study explores the literary movements of “Nammin” consciousness as the peculiarities of Jeonbuk in the flow of ethnic literature and folk literature in the 1980s. The 1980s was the most active period in all of our societies such as political, economic, social, and cultural. In the literature sector, small group movements based on non-periodical Mooks and regional movements were found. Nammin poetry coterie(남민시 동인), formed in Jeonbuk, is not far from the form and content of the literary movement in the 1980s. They noticed the collapse of the traditional way of life centered on agriculture during industrialization. In the process, he discovers the folk subject of 'Nammin' and develops the literary movement through 'field' which is the basis for their existence and survival. This did not mean that Nammin poetry coterie focused on the people of Jeonbuk. They recognized that the lives of the people of Jeonbuk were a concrete aspect of the social and historical reality that our nation faces in the 1980s. Therefore, restoring the lives of the people of Jeonbuk and expanding the consciousness of South people would be the driving force to solve the problems facing our people. In this way, Nammin poetry coterie formed the foundation for the movement to respond to the current reality and overcome the contradiction of reality through literature by embodying the people's capacity of Jeonbuk, which is symbolized by the people's consciousness. Nammin poetry coterie, who gave vitality to Jeonbuk literature in the 1980s, later explored the possibility of a social and historical movement through literature by organizing a new literary organization in Jeonbuk. They are constantly emphasizing the social role of literature in that the vitality of literature should be a response to the social and historical realities and a movement to overcome the contradictions of reality.

이 연구는 1980년대 민족문학 및 민중문학의 흐름 속에서 전북의 특수성으로 ‘남 민’ 의식이 지닌 문예학적 운동성을 탐색하고 있다. 1980년대는 정치 경제 사회 문 화 등 우리 사회의 전방위에 걸쳐 운동성이 가장 활발했던 시기로, 문학 부문에서는 비정기간행물 무크를 기반으로 한 소집단운동과 지역에 기반을 둔 운동이 특징적으 로 발견된다. 전북에서 결성된 남민시 동인도 1980년대 문학운동의 형식과 내용에서 벗어나지 않는다. 이들은 산업화 과정에서 농업을 중심에 둔 전통적인 삶의 방식이 무너지는 현상에 주목했다. 그 과정에서 ‘남민’이라는 민중주체를 발견하고, 이들의 실존과 생존의 근거가 되는 ‘들(판)’을 통해 문학 운동을 전개해간다. 그렇다고 해서 남민시 동인이 전북의 민중에만 초점을 맞춘 것은 아니었다. 이들은 전북 민중의 삶이 1980년대 우리 민족이 마주하고 있는 사회역사적 현실의 구체적인 국면이라고 인식했다. 따라서 전북 민중의 삶을 회복하고 남민 의식을 확장하는 것이 우리 민족 이 당면하고 있는 문제를 해결하는 동력이 될 것으로 보았다. 이렇게 남민시 동인은 남민 의식으로 상징되는 전북의 민중 역량을 형상화함으로써 문학을 통해 당면 현실 에 대응하고 현실의 모순을 극복해가는 운동의 토대를 마련하였다. 1980년대 전북 문학에 활력을 불어넣었던 남민시 동인은 이후 전북에 새로운 문학 단체를 조직함으 로써 문학을 통해 사회역사적 운동의 가능성을 타진했다. 남민시 동인을 중심으로 조직된 전북작가회의는 1990년대 이후 전북 지역 문학의 한 축으로 성장했고, 문학 의 생명력은 사회역사적 당면 현실에 대한 대응이자 현실의 모순을 극복해가는 운동 이어야 한다는 관점에서 문학의 사회적 역할을 끊임없이 강조하고 있다.
