A Study on the Influence of Life Behavior of College Students on Academic Achievement

PURPOSE : The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting academic achievement by living behavior for students enrolled in one university in busan. METHOD: Analysis program SPSS v25. Correlation analysis, mean comparison, and one-way distribution analysis were used to investigate the correlation between academic achievement and life behavior. RESULT: The relationship between commuting time and academic achievement was 3.75±0.49 for the highest academic achievement(grade) for less than 30 minutes. The relationship between dormitory type and academic achievement was 3.70 ± 0.46 for the highest academic achievement in catering or lodging. As for the relationship between breakfast type and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 3.70 ± 0.42. As for the relationship between alcohol consumption and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 3.81 ± 0.42 once or twice every 6 months. The relationship between sleep time and academic achievement was 3.77 ± 0.40, the highest academic achievement for 3 to 5 hours.As for the relationship between smoking status and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 4.01±0.13 in 16-20 ratios. As for the relationship between the presence or absence of exercise and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 3.79±0.41 with exercise. As for the relationship between dating and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 3.76±0.48 among dating. As for the relationship between daily cell phone usage time and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 4.02±0.24 for less than 1 hour. As for the relationship between weekly assignment time and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 3.84±0.45 for 16-20 hours. As for the relationship between daily study time and academic achievement, the highest academic achievement was 3.83±0.23 for 16-20 hours. DISCUSSION & CONCLUSION : Study time and homework time had a positive effect on academic achievement (grade) as the proportion of time increased, exercise and breakfast had a positive effect, and cell phone usage time and commuting time had a negative effect as the proportion of time increased. It is considered that additional studies are needed because complex factors such as psychological, physiological and time investments affect the type of residence, drinking and smoking, dating, and sleeping time.
