Today, the origin of music stemmed from the military and such music was also mobilized during the war. We need to consider the nobility and weight of peace without ignoring those kinds of mobilized music as a lesson in history. It was in the 1860’s that Western music introduced in Japan. And its origin was military music trumpets and drums aimed at the discipline and integration of the military and the people. Japanese music now exists as a form of transformation of such military music under the influence of the stream of history or social conditions. Some are continuous and others are cut off and stopped on the border of the Fifteen Years War. Based on those, we can figure out various aspects of music, how much precious and scary, Japanese are enjoying today. This paper deals with the Japanese military songs, popular songs played all over the wars, and media trends cultivating such moods in the framework of war and music. Furthermore, the characteristics of permeation of Japanese military songs are examined thoroughly, considering the responsibility of war in the music industry. Thinking over the music in wartime, we can feel the silent echoes of treacherous obedience of Japanese ordinary people. Besides, we can be aware of the fact that features of permeation of military songs never fade away but just chronic when listening to the songs like Sheena Ringo’s NIPPON or RADWIMPS’ HINOMARU which represent a throwback to the wartime.

오늘날 음악의 기원은 군대에 있으며 전쟁 시기에는 음악도 동원되는데, 그러한 것을 역사 의 교훈으로 삼아 무시하지 않고 평화의 고귀함과 무게를 생각해 볼 필요가 있다. 일본에서 서양 음악이 본격적으로 도입되는 계기는 1860년대 군대나 국민의 규율화와 통합을 목적으 로 한 군악 나팔과 드럼에 의한 신호가 그 기원이다. 그것이 역사의 흐름이나 사회 상황의 영향을 받아 변천하여 오늘날의 일본 음악이 존재하 고 있는 것이다. 거기에는 15년 전쟁기를 경계로 전후에 연속되어 있는 것도 있고, 단절・중단 된 것도 있다. 그러한 것을 바탕으로 지금 일본인들이 즐기고 있는 음악이 얼마나 소중하고, 무서운 것인지, 그 다면적인 요소를 파악할 수 있다. 본고에서는 전쟁과 음악이라는 틀에서 군가와 더불어 종횡무진한 군국가요, 그리고 그와 같은 환경을 조성한 미디어의 동향, 나아가 음악계의 전쟁책임을 검토하며 일본 군가의 침윤 성을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 전시하의 음악을 생각할 때 면종복배(面從腹背)하는 민중의 소리 없는 울림을 느낄 수 있다. 또한 시이나 링고(椎名林檎)의 이나 래드윔프스(RADWIMPS)의 는 일본 군가가 격세(隔世) 유전된 느낌마저 들게 하여 오늘날까지 군가의 침윤성이 소멸되지 않고 고질(痼疾)이 되어 있다는 사실을 여실히 보여주고 있다.
