Oriental painting is a painting of technique that expresses the depth and lightness of ink, and emphasizes the beauty of margin. This is to express oriental thinking and aesthetics, and the artistic capacity of the Orient is condensed and unique aesthetic consciousness is inherent. The purpose of this study is to examine the oriental painting technique applied to fashion, especially Sumook’s expression technique used as fashion expression technique, and to suggest design using the effect of spread that Korean emotion is clearly expressed based on this. Sumook’s technique based on the aesthetic consciousness and emotion unique to the Orient is the secret of diversity of expressions according to the thickness and lightness of brush strokes and ink. In addition, Sumook technique is characterized by the ability to express static expression to dynamic area using harmony of margin. A total of six actual clothes were made to propose the design. Prior to the production, the concept and direction of design were determined by examining previous studies, related books and websites on costumes with oriental painting and ink painting techniques. Also, after analyzing the formative characteristics of oriental paintings and analyzing how Sumook techniques were applied to costumes, patterns were created through three-dimensional and flat combinations so that incision, detail, and color could be arranged harmoniously in a limited space of costumes at an appropriate rate. The space was connected through the effect that spreads so that the margin part can match naturally with the part, which is not the margin, and expressed the aesthetic consciousness of oriental painting by using only one achromatic color and refraining from using unnecessary colors. The material is set as cotton so that the dye is sufficiently spread, and it also induces the concentration of the gaze by leaving the space at which needs the emphasis of the costume or the effect of the flow, and refrains from using artificial details. This study is meaningful in that it applied silhouette, detail, material, and color based on the results of analyzing and reviewing the formality of oriental painting. Also, if the suggestion of additional expression techniques using Sumook and subsequent studies continue, it will be possible to succeed commercially in addition to academic achievements.

동양화는 먹의 농담으로 표현하는 기법의 그림으로, 여백의 미를 중요시한다. 이는 동양사상과 미학을 표현하는 것으로 동양의 예술적인 역량이 응축되어 있으며, 고유한 미의식이 자리 잡고 있다. 이 디자인 개발 연구는, 패션에 응용되고 있는 동양화의 기법, 특히 수묵의 표현기법 분류와 패션의 표현기법으로 사용된 수묵 기법을 살펴보고, 이를 토대로, 한국적 정서의 표현이 명확한 번짐의 효과를 이용해서 디자인을 개발하 는 것이다. 동양의 고유한 미의식과 정서에 기반한 수묵의 기법은 붓의 필치와 먹의 농담에 따른 표현의 다양 성이 핵심인데, 수묵 기법은 농담과 여백의 조화를 이용해서 정적인 표현에서부터 동적인 영역까지 표현이 가능한 것이 특징이다. 총 여섯 개의 실물 의상을 만들어서 디자인을 제안했으며, 제작에 앞서 디자인 콘셉트 와 방향성을 정하기 위해 동양화와 수묵 기법이 적용된 의상들에 관한 선행연구와 관련 서적, 웹사이트 등을 살펴봤다. 또한, 의상에 담긴 동양화의 조형적 특성을 분석해서 수묵의 기법이 어떻게 적용됐는지 분석한 후, 의상이라는 제한된 공간 안에서 절개와 디테일 그리고 색이 적절한 비율로 조화롭게 구성될 수 있도록, 입체와 평면을 병용해서 패턴을 제작했다. 여백 부분이 그렇지 않은 부분과 단절되지 않고 자연스럽게 어울 릴 수 있도록 번짐의 효과를 통해 두 공간을 이어줬고, 불필요한 색의 사용을 자제하고 무채색 한 가지만 사용해서 동양화의 미의식이 표현되도록 했다. 소재는 염료의 번짐이 충분히 스며들 수 있도록 ‘무명’으로 정했다. 또한, 의상에서 강조할 부분이나 흐름의 효과가 필요한 곳에 여백이 남도록 해서 시선의 집중을 유도 하고 인위적인 디테일의 사용은 자제했다. 이 디자인 개발 및 제안 연구는 동양화의 조형성을 분석하고 고찰 한 결과를 토대로 실루엣과 디테일, 그리고 소재와 색을 정해서 제작했다는 것에서 의의가 있다. 또한, 수묵 을 응용한 추가적인 표현기법의 제안과 후속 연구가 지속해서 이어진다면 학문적인 성과 이외에도 상업적으 로도 충분히 성공할 수 있다고 확신한다
