Today, we faced with various radical experiments on human body. Humans are defined as technical beings, and radical experiments on transformation of human body are being attempted. Bio art in this biotech era strengthens the posthuman physicality and, based on this, builds its own path to understanding of human and life. The bio-artists are encouraging the use of biotechnology to intervene the body artistically. They explore the essence of human beings, attempting to transform and extend the body and to deconstruct and reconstruct it in an unexpected way. The use of body as art materials in contemporary biological art is not for engineering purposes, but for understanding of human. The practice of bio art is always concerned with the fact, that humans are inherently hybrids, and that their body is constructed on the basis of microscopic life. Bio art is an artistic attempt to discover the general basis of life and create new human images. In fact, it cares more about the origin of the human body as microscopic life than about the human figure that will change in the future. It emphasizes that body transformation is a continuous process which began before we were born, and builds a path between human origin and future, as well as pre-human and post-human. Posthuman can only be constructed on the basis of microscopic life that bio art has never neglected.
