The purpose of this study was to analyze the external and content aspects of the illustrations of elementary school rooms and authorized textbooks by the 2015 curriculum to determine the appropriateness of the illustrations and to present the desirable direction and basic materials of the textbooks to be developed in the upcoming revision of the new curriculum. The results of the study were summarized as follows. First, the number of illustrations by area was not very relevant to the number of pages in that area. Second, the types of illustrations by area were mainly photographs. Third, the area of illustration was found to be the largest in all three areas except for human development and family, family life and safety areas. Fourth, the shapes of illustrations were found to have the largest number of squares in all four areas except for resource management and self-reliance areas. Fifth, the characters were found to have the most co-stars in the areas of human development and family, resource management and self-reliance, and the most objects in the areas of family life and safety, technology systems and technology utilization. Sixth, the role of illustrations had the highest hands-on guidance in the area of technical systems. In all four other areas, data presentation was the most common. Seventh, in the functional aspect of illustrations, essential functions were the highest in all areas. Based on the analysis results of the research, suggestions that can help develop data on the production and illustration of practical textbooks in the future and set its direction are as follows. First, research that requires qualitative analysis to analyze the role or effect of illustrations should continue. Second, according to the results of the study, there were differences in the number of illustrations for each textbook in the same field as the actual results. In the development of the next textbook, it is necessary to ensure that the number of illustrations is at a similar level.

이 연구의 목적은 2015 교육과정에 의한 초등학교 실과 검정 교과서의 삽화의 외형적 측면과 내용적 측면을 분석하여 삽화의 적절성을 판단하고, 아울러 앞으로 있을 새로운 교육과정 개정에서 개발될 교과서의 바람직한 방향과 기초자료를 제시하는 데 있다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영역별 삽화의 수는 해당 영역의 쪽수와는 큰 관련 성이 없었다. 둘째, 영역별 삽화의 종류는 사진이 주를 이루었다. 셋째, 삽화의 면적은 인간발달과 가족, 가정생활과 안전 영역을 제외하고는 나머지 3개 영역에서 모두 1/16이 가장 많은 것으로 나 타났다. 넷째, 삽화의 모양은 자원관리와 자립영역을 제외하고 나머지 4개 영역에서 모두 사각형이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 등장인물은 인간발달과 가족, 자원관리와 자립 영역에서는 공 동주연이 가장 많았고, 가정생활과 안전, 기술 시스템, 기술활용 영역에서는 사물이 가장 많은 것으 로 나타났다. 여섯째, 삽화의 역할은 기술 시스템 영역은 실습 안내가 가장 높았다. 나머지 4개 영 역에서는 모두 자료제공이 가장 많게 나타났다. 일곱째, 삽화의 기능적인 측면에서는 필수적인 기능 이 전 영역에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 연구의 분석결과에 근거하여 앞으로 실과교과서 제작 및 삽화에 관한 자료 개발과 그 방향을 설 정하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 제언을 하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 삽화의 역할이나 효과 등을 분석하 는 질적인 분석이 요구되는 연구가 계속되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 연구의 결과에 따르면 실과의 같 은 영역에서 교과서별로 삽화의 수 등이 차이가 있었다. 차기 교과서 개발에서는 어느 정도 삽화의 수가 비슷한 수준이 될 수 있도록 할 필요가 있다.
