The purpose of this study is to investigate the '-' vowel pronunciation patterns of Korean language learners. For this purpose, the characteristics of the Korean '-' vowels were identified and the types of vowels were classified by language. Through this study, it was possible to predict the type of epenthetic vowel for each languages and see how these predictions differ from the learners' pronunciation. As a results, Some languages show that the predicted vowels by language based on this study actually differ from native speaker’s pronunciation. For example, /i/ was predicted as a epenthetic vowel in Chinese and Japanese, but Chinese speakers and Japanese speakers pronounced it as[u]. The same goes for Indonesian. / ɨ / was expected as a epenthetic vowel, but Indonesians pronounced it as [ə]. On the other hand, some languages have the same expected the epenthetic vowel type and actual pronunciation. Mongolian is representative. Mongolian was predicted to be an insertion vowel /i/, and real Mongolian speakers pronounced [i]. In addition, French, German and Russian are the same cases.

본 연구의 목적은 한국어 ‘ㅡ’ 모음의 특성과 언어권별 삽입모음의 유형, 그리고 ‘ㅡ ’ 모음에 대한 학습자들의 발음 양상을 살펴보는 데에 있다. 본 연구를 통해 언어권별로 삽입모음의 유형을 예측해 볼 수 있었고 예측한 내용과 학습자들의 발음이 어떻게 다 른지 확인해 볼 수 있었다. 예측한 삽입모음의 유형과 같은 경우도 있었지만 전혀 다른 경우도 있었다. 중국어와 일본어의 경우 /i/가 삽입모음이 될 것이라 예측하였지만 실 제 중국어 화자들은 [u]로 발음하였다. 인도네시아어의 경우 /ɨ/가 삽입모음이 될 것이 라 예측하였지만 실제 인도네시아어 화자들은 [ə]로 발음하였다. 다음으로 예측한 삽 입모음의 유형과 학습자들이 발음이 같은 경우인데 몽골어의 경우가 대표적이다. 몽골 어는 /i/가 삽입모음이 될 것이라 예측하였고 실제 몽골어 화자들도 [i]로 발음하였다. 프랑스어와 독일어, 러시아어 또한 삽입모음으로 /i/를 예측할 수 있었고 실제로 [i]로 발음하였다.
