This study analyzed the structure of conflicts adopted by TV mini series which have been among the top 5 most watched during the 2006-2011 period. The factors of conflict were analyzed by dividing into external factors such as the protagonist's occupation, status, class, and internal factors such as the psychological conflict state of the characters. The inner factors were categorized into core categories, such as personality, values, and emotions, and the contents of each were categorized based on values that provide the cause of conflict. Conflict analysis by subject was analyzed by dividing the contextual conflict and the horizontal/vertical relationship between the conflict subjects. Finally, the method of resolving conflict is to establish a new relationship as the conflict relationship is resolved, such as forgiveness, reconciliation, and marriage, as a positive method. Suicide, death, breakup, etc., were classified as negative methods. It was observed that the most commonly used subject was the conflicts associated with romantic relationships, the same as between 2000 and 2005 - the period which our earlier study covered. On the other hand, two differences from the earlier period were found: A rising number of cases were found where values were used as the cause of conflicts or some profession was a major backdrop of the whole structure. Secondly, more dramas ended with a negative resolution of the conflicts, which might have been related to the rise of the genre dramas. In addition, as the deus ex machina method decreased, it was possible to find a feature that escaped from the traditional melodramatic conflict structure. These results have implications that this period is when the drama genre began to diversify.

본 연구는 2006년부터 2011년까지 방영된 미니시리즈 중에 시청률 상위 5위 이내에 진입한 작품들의 갈등구조를 분석하였다. 갈등의 설정 요인으로는 주인공의 직업, 신분, 계층 등과 같은 외형적 요인과 등 장인물들의 심리적 갈등상태와 같은 내면적 요인으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 내면적 요인은 성격, 가치관, 감정을 핵심 카테고리로 분류하였으며, 각각에 해당하는 내용은 갈등 발생의 원인을 제공하는 가치를 중 심으로 분류하였다. 갈등의 주제별 분석은 상황적 갈등과 갈등 주체 간 수평/수직적 관계를 구분하여 분 석하였다. 마지막으로 갈등의 해결 방식은 용서, 화해, 결혼과 같이 갈등 관계가 해소되면서 새로운 관계 로 정립되는 것을 긍정적 방법으로, 자살이나 죽음, 이별 등과 같이 갈등으로 인해 관계가 단절되는 것을 부정적 방법으로 설정하여 분류하였다. 2000년부터 2005년까지 성공한 미니시리즈를 분석한 이전 연구 와 비교할 때, 애정 관계를 중심으로 한 갈등이 가장 보편적인 소재로 활용되고 있다. 그러나 가치관이나 직업의 전문성을 갈등의 소재로 부각한 드라마가 증가하는 추세에 있으며, 부정적 갈등 해결 방식이 증 가하고 있다는 측면에서는 이전 시기 분석 결과와 차이가 있다. 부정적 갈등 해결의 빈도가 지속적으로 증가하는 추세는 장르 드라마의 증가와 관련 있다. 장르 드라마의 증가는 드라마가 사회를 은유하고자 선택하는 사건과 갈등이 다양해지면서, 사회를 은유하는 방식과 표현의 심도, 표현의 구체성이 섬세해지 고 있음을 함의한다. 그리고 데우스 엑스 마키나 방식의 대단원이 줄어들면서 전통적인 멜로드라마 갈등 구조에서 탈피하는 특징도 발견할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 이 시기가 드라마 장르가 다양해지기 시작 한 시기라는 함의를 갖는다. 이에 이 연구는 사회 변화 시기에 드라마는 어떠한 이슈를 반영하여 드라마 를 제작하였고, 그 이슈를 어떠한 방식으로 다루었는지를 분석하는 것은 드라마의 사회적 기능뿐만 아니 라, 우리 드라마산업의 발전 과정을 분석하는 의미를 찾아보는 것을 목적으로 한다.
