This study focuses on the spatial experience of natural landscapes as realized through the fusion of virtual and real spaces. By categorizing and analyzing implemented media installation works, I intend to explore the diversity and meaning of new media art expression methods that have been expanded into natural spaces. As environmental issues emerge, a new relationship between humans and nature is required to reflect on the human-centered view of nature. The installation works of natural scenery are expected to stimulate the sensibility of modern people, who have been tamed in urban spaces, and induce a change in the perception of the environment. The natural landscape through the combination of virtual and real spaces is classified into three types according to the installation method and the nature of the space. The types of landscapes are the ‘unfolded landscape', combining immaterial natural phenomena in a closed space; the 'overlapping landscape', defined through the projection and light emission of images in the natural ecological environment; and the space between the earth and sky in the atmosphere, depending on the passage of time. The natural landscape is presented by dividing it into 'embedded landscapes' using a moving algorithm. Media art installation works that enable the experience of natural scenery allow modern people, tamed in homogeneous spaces, to experience the natural environment, which has become a major interface, free from disconnected uniform thinking. In addition, this process provides an opportunity for a free experience at the boundary between reality and imagination through the expansion of the senses and immersion. This combination with the natural environment, a contemporary art trend, seeks the possibility of a new art method and can be presented as an example of art expression that will evolve in various ways in the field of media art in the future.

본 연구는 가상과 실재 공간의 융합으로 구현된 자연 풍경의 공간 경험에 대한 것이다. 구현한 미디어 설치 작품들을 유형화하여 분석함으로써 자연 공간으로 확장된 뉴미디어아트 표현 방식의 다양성과 의미 를 모색하고자 한다. 환경문제가 대두되면서 인간 중심의 자연관에 대한 반성과 함께 인간과 자연의 새 로운 관계 구축이 요구되고 있다. 자연풍경 설치작품은 도시공간에 길들여진 현대인들의 감성을 자극하 며 환경에 대한 인식 전환을 유도할 것으로 기대한다. 가상과 실재 공간의 결합을 통한 자연 풍경을 설 치 방식과 공간의 성격에 따라 3가지 유형으로 분류하였다. 풍경의 유형은 닫힌 공간에 비물질적인 자연 현상이 결합된 ‘펼쳐진 풍경’, 자연 생태환경에 이미지를 투영 및 발광을 통한 ‘겹쳐진 풍경’ 그리고 땅 과 하늘의 사이 공간인 대기층에 시간의 흐름에 따라 움직이는 알고리즘에 의한 ‘내재된 풍경’으로 구분 하여 제시하였다. 자연 풍경의 경험을 가능하게 한 미디어아트 설치 작품은 동질적 공간에 길들여진 현 대인들에게 단절된 획일적 사고로부터 벗어나 거대한 인터페이스가 된 자연환경을 경험하게 한다. 또한 감각의 확장과 몰입을 통한 실제와 상상의 경계에서 자유로운 경험의 기회를 제공한다. 동시대의 예술 경향 중의 하나인 자연환경과의 결합은 새로운 예술 방식의 가능성을 모색하고, 향후 미디어아트 분야에 서 다양하게 진화하고 있는 예술 표현의 사례로 제시될 수 있을 것으로 본다.
