In the fall semester of 2020, due to the wide spread of COVID-19, most church services were converted to a non-face-to-face online format and digital devices became essential tools for online worship. The number of confirmed cases of virus infections in churches continued to increase, leading to the inability to worship at churches. As a result, religious freedom and the public responsibility of the church became important issues in Korean society. The government and people believe that even though religious values and doctrines should be acknowledged, the desirable public role of the religious institutions should also be recognized seriously. In an extreme situation like COVID-19, it is necessary and even required for the church to accept the ‘new normal’ as a universal phenomena and follow the regulations required by society. In the 1990s and 2000s, related studies were stagnant and research resumed on the perspective of religious education and cultural missions again after mid-2010. According to the Korean Society of Evangelical Practical Theology, if you search for the keyword ‘media,’ seven papers out of 500 and only four papers with sermon in the title were found. In the rapidly changing media environment, in the context of the ‘new normal,’ new approaches are natural and necessary in the study of worship and preaching. The researcher deals with changes in the paradigm of worship and preaching and proposes four suggestions in terms of recovering the fundamentals of preaching: listening carefully to the congregation, starting with the small things, standing with God and God’s people, and examining the foundation of faith.

본 연구가 진행되는 2020년 가을학기는 코로나19 바이러스의 여전 한 확산으로 교회에서 진행되는 모든 예배가 비대면 온라인으로 전환 되었고 컴퓨터와 스마트기기가 온라인 예배를 위한 필수도구가 되었 다. 교회 발 확진자가 계속 늘며 교회에서 예배드리지 못하는 사태까지 이르게 되었고 한국 사회에서 종교의 자유와 공공성은 충돌했다. 이제 정부와 시민들은 종교가 아무리 그들만의 교리를 중심으로 구성되었어 도 공적 가치를 존중해야 한다고 생각한다. 극단적 상황에서는 사회제 도의 통제를 받는 것이 정당하다는 견해가 한국 사회에서 보편적인 사 고방식이 되었고 한국교회가 받아들여야 하는 과제가 되었다. 1990~2000년대 미디어 관련 연구들이 성행하다 주춤했고 2010년 중반 이후 다시 신앙교육과 문화선교의 관점에서 연구가 재개되었는데 한국복음주의실천신학회의 경우‘미디어’라는 키워드로 검색하면 전 체 500여 편 중 일곱 편의 논문이 검색되고 이 중 제목에 설교를 넣은 논문은 단 네 편에 불과했다. 본 연구는 급격히 변화되는 미디어 환경 이 뉴노멀로 주어지는 지금 예배와 설교에도 변화가 요청된다고 보고 예배 패러다임의 변화와 설교의 변화를 다루되 회복의 차원에서 네 가지 설교방안을 제안했다.
