Philosophy has always been engaged in a paradoxical activity of torturing itself. The more passion motivates the pursuit of the truth, the more chance is there to discourage the hope for the truth. Thus philosophy unveils the fictitiousness of what we ordinarily believe to be true, much less answers the questions of the existence the universe and the human life. This line of scepticism is a wellknown story. But contemporary philosophy tends to deconstruct itself beyond the limit of resuscitation. Philosophy has reached the bottom, where nothing could be accepted plausible, risking the fate of self-ruin. Now human beings are inevitably in a state of philosophical zero-gravity with no ground to stand on, waiting to be fed by accidents. To meet this crisis I suggest a way for philosophy to hit the bottom. I introduce a method of philosophizing, which I remodel out of the method of critical thinking. With this we are able to enlarge the catalogue of what we can accept, which hopefully results in restoring the traditional meaning of philosophy, namely love of wisdom. It is deplorable that Korean philosophical community has been unable to enjoy the fruit of communal research mainly due to the absence of the method of philosophizing. This problem is expected to be resolved by communizing what I suggest as the method of philosophizing.

철학은 끊임없이 자기 자신의 정체성을 문제 삼는 역설을 품고 있다. 진리에 도달하고자 하는 열정이 강할수록 진리에 도달하는 일이 어렵다. 철학은 존재와 삶에 관한 문제들에 대한 답을 주기는커녕 오히려 우리가 보통 진리로 여기는 것들까지 허구임을 폭로한다. 이러한 회의주의의 전통은 오래되었지만, 특히 현대 철학은 거의 회생 불가능할 정도로 철학을 해체시킨다. 철학은 더 이상 지킬 것이 없는 바닥에 도달하여 자멸할 위기에 처해 있다. 그래서 인간은 그 어느 것에도 의지할 수 없는 철학적 무중력 상태에서 속절없이 우연의 제물이 될 운명에 처해 있다. 이에 필자는 철학이 바닥을 칠 수 있는 길을 제시하고자 한다. 그것은 비판적 사고의 방법론을 철학함의 방법론으로 보완ㆍ정립하여, 우리가 ‘받아들일 수 있는 명제들의 항목’을 늘여나가는 일이다. 이는 우리가 전통적 의미의 철학, 즉 진리(지혜) 사랑을 다시 할 수 있게 한다. 특히 한국의 철학계는 철학함의 방법론을 공유하지 않음으로 인하여, 동서고금의 철학이 공존하면서도 열린 사고 공동체의 작품이라고 할 만한 열매를 맺는 데는 미치지 못하는 실정이다. 이러한 문제도 필자가 제안하는 철학함의 방법론을 공유함으로써 해결될 수 있을 것이다.
