In recent years, we have interested in the discussion of environment, ecology, cloning of an embryo bud and feminism etc. in the academic world of Korean Buddhism. After 1990’s, we have considered those discussions centering around environmental problems. With those discussions of the times, we started to open our mouths socially and this has provoked a great deal of argument more. In this paper, there are four analysis about those discussion as the followings. First, I inquired the inflow of the western discussion about environment and life, after then I analyzed the discussion of Buddhism as a countermeasure and the Buddhism ethics about environmental problems. Secondly, I analyzed the discussion on ecology applied Buddhism and the concepts of animals and plants of Buddhism. Thirdly, I analyzed the discussion on the ethics of Buddhism about cloning of an embryo bud. Finally, I analyzed the argument of Buddhism about gender before 2007 and the arguments of Buddhism presented in the academic conference of Korean Buddhist Research Society in 2007. After then, I inquired the characteristics of the arguments and considered how they have developed in the viewpoint of ethics applied Buddhism. And then I showed the point that we should research in the future.

최근 불교학계에서는 환경생태배아 복제페미니즘 등에 관한 담론에 관심을 가지고 있다. 특히 1990년대 이후 환경문제를 중심으로 한 담론이 활발히 전개되고 있다. 이러한 변화와 함께 불교계는 응용불교학에 관한 많은 연구업적을 쏟아내고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 논의들에 관해 다음과 같이 네 가지로 분석하고 있다. 첫째, 환경과 생명에 관한 서구 담론의 유입을 고찰한 후 그 대응책으로서의 불교 담론과 환경 문제에 관한 불교 윤리를 분석하였다. 둘째, 불교 생태학과 동식물 개념에 관한 불교적 논의를 분석하였다.셋째, 배아복제에 관한 불교 윤리학적 담론을 분석하였다.넷째, 2007년 이전의 성에 관한 불교적 논의와 2007년 한국 불교학회 학술대회에서 발표된 불교 담론을 분석하였다.위와 같은 논의를 분석하면서 그러한 논의의 특징을 규명하고, 그러한 논의가 응용 불교 윤리의 관점에서 어떻게 전개되었는지 살펴본 후, 앞으로 연구되어야 할 점이 무엇인지를 제시하였다.
