In this study, the contents of career education newly developed according to the 2015 Revised National Curriculum and presented in the textbooks for junior grade (Grades 3, 4) and senior grade (Grades 5, 6) in elementary school were analyzed by subjects according to detailed objectives and achievement standards (4 large domains, 8 medium domains) proposed by the Ministry of Education(2015) and based on that, a comparison among grades was conducted. In Research Question I, the characteristics of distribution of large and medium domains were examined and compared by subjects and grades, and in Research Question II, the forms how the career education has been proposed were examined by subjects and grades. In Research Question III, how the characteristics of careers presented in home economics are related to the results obtained in Research Questions I and II was examined. The subjects to be studied were 48 textbooks in total, from which 44 were national Korean, Social Studies, Ethics, Math, and Science textbooks and 4 were government-approved home economics textbooks. The contents were analyzed by three people, 1 researcher and 2 graduate students, master in elementary school counselor, and the degree of agreement among them was shown to be .88-.92. Here are the study results: First, in the subjects to be studied, excluding math and home economics, it was observed that 84% of total frequency was unequally distributed to I (Self-understanding and Social Competence) and II (Understanding the World of Job and Career) of the 4 large domains of detailed objectives and achievement standards of the career education in elementary school. The comparison among grades by subjects showed a big difference in the level of medium domain. Second, the contents of the career education presented in large and medium domains were proposed mostly in the form of activities, reading materials and illustration in textbooks, and these 3 presentations take up 93% of entire contents and the contents in the form of activities were the most important in the career education in elementary school. Third, home economics in elementary school acts as a guide to the career education, but newly revised home economics was not differentiated from other subjects in the scope of this study. Therefore, it seems that home economics might require qualitative reviews in terms of career education. In the sense that implementation is important for the career education in elementary school, follow-up measures were necessary to make the Standards for Career Education by subjects to satisfy each grade.

이 연구는 2015 개정교육과정에 따라 새롭게 만든 중학년(3, 4)과 고학년(5, 6) 교과서에 나타난 진로교육의 내용 을 교육부(2015)가 제시한 초등학교 진로교육의 세부목표 및 성취기준(대영역 4개, 중영역 8개)에 따라 내용분석 을 하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 학년군 간에 비교를 하였다. 연구문제 Ⅰ에서는 교과별, 학년군별에 따른 대영역과 중영역 분포의 특징을 알아보고 비교하였으며, 연구문제 Ⅱ에서는 교과별, 학년군별로 진로교육의 방법이 제시되 는 형태를 확인하였다. 연구문제 Ⅲ은 실과과목에서 나타난 진로와 관련된 특징이 연구문제 Ⅰ과 Ⅱ에서 나타난 결과와 어떤 관련성이 있는지를 밝히는 작업이었다. 연구대상의 교과목은 국어, 사회, 도덕, 수학, 과학의 국정교 과서 44권과 검인정 실과교과서 4권을 합해서 총 48권이었다. 내용분석은 연구자와 초등상담전공 대학원생 2명 을 포함하여 3명에 의해 이루어졌으며, 2자간의 일치도 범위는 .88-.92로 나타났다. 연구의 결과, 첫째, 수학과 실 과를 제외한 나머지 연구대상의 과목에서 초등학교 진로교육의 세부목표 및 성취기준의 대영역 4개 가운데 Ⅰ (자기이해와 사회적역량)과 Ⅱ(일과 직업세계의 이해 역량)의 영역이 전체빈도수의 84%를 차지하여 편중된 현상 을 보였다. 교과목에 따른 학년군 간의 비교에서는 중영역의 수준에서 많은 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 대영역과 중 영역에서 나타난 진로교육의 내용들이 주로 활동, 읽기자료, 삽화의 형태로 교과서에 제시되었으며, 이 같은 3가 지의 제시형태가 전체의 93%를 차지하였다. 특히, 초등학교 진로교육에서는 활동이 중요한 교육의 형태로 나타 났다. 셋째, 초등학교에서는 실과교과가 진로교육의 이정표 역할을 하는데, 새롭게 개정된 실과교과도 본 연구의 분석범위 내에서는 다른 교과와 차별화되지 않았다. 따라서 실과교과는 진로교육의 질적인 수준에서 새로운 검 토가 필요하였다. 초등학교 진로교육은 실행이 중요하다는 측면에서 현장의 교사들이 사용할 수 있는 각 학년과 각 과목별 특징을 고려한 ‘진로교육 표준안’을 만드는 후속작업의 필요성이 제기되었다.
