The main purpose of this paper is to present the desirable direction of liberal arts, to realize the ideal of University as an autonomous academic community in today’s society. To do this, I define the ideal of University as the Autonomy in which what can not be said would be what can be said. In this process, I shall maintain the position that the society should be inherent in discipline, rather than the discipline is inherent in society. Furthermore, to establish the spirit of University, I urge to change the direction of liberal arts to improve the ①critical thinking ability, ②rational communication ability, ③creative problem-solving ability. I argue the reconstruction of the liberal arts curriculum should take the type of cross disciplines instead of the development of the convergence course. Lastly, I suggest the reconstruction of the liberal arts curriculum to be able to communicate with other disciplines, let philosophy contribute to the liberal arts.

본 논문의 주된 목적은 현대사회에서 자율적 학문공동체로서 대학의 이념을 실현하기 위하여 바람직한 교양교육의 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 필자는 대학의 이념을 말할 수 없는 것을 말할 수 있는 자율성으로 규정한다. 이 과정에서 필자는 사회 속에 학문이 내재하는 것이 아니라, 학문 속에 사회가 내재해야만 한다는 입장을 견지한다. 나아가 필자는 대학의 정신을 바로 세우기 위해 우선 ① 비판적 사고능력, ② 합리적 의사소통능력, ③ 창의적 문제해결능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 교양교육의 방향을 전환할 것을 주문한다. 이를 위해 필자는 융･복합형 교과목의 개발보다 학문 횡단형으로 교양교과과정을 재편할 것을 주장한다. 마지막으로 필자는 철학이 교양교육에 기여하기 위해서는 다른 학문과 소통할 수 있는 교육과정 개편을 제안한다.
