In this article is it the matter, why the final aim of the life is the happiness, which conditions make the happiness possible, and how man criticizes the society and makes an alternative. Aristoteles and Honneth approach the theme in common with the perspective, in which the human being makes the life happy of himself, and locates the happiness in the context not of self-preservation, but of successful self-realization. But Aristoteles takes note of only personal condition of happiness, while Honneth concentrates his own attention on the psychological and the social condition. Therefore it is necessary to mediate the both. This mediation makes it possible, to criticize the real life and to make an alternative.

본 논문은 아리스토텔레스의 행복관과 호네트의 인정이론에 근거하여 행복이 왜 삶의 최종 목적이며, 이를 가능하게 하는 조건은 무엇이고, 또한 이러한 논의를 통해 어떻게 현실 사회를 비판하고 대안을 제시할 수 있는지를 논의한다. 아리스토텔레스와 호네트는 공통적으로 행복을 주체적 입장에서 접근하면서 이를 생존이 아니라 성공적 자아실현이라는 맥락에 위치시킨다. 그러나 아리스토텔레스는 행복을 가능하게 하는 인격적 조건에만 주목하고 있으며, 호네트 행복의 심리적, 사회적 조건에 주목하고 있다. 이런 점에서 행복의 조건을 충분히 밝히기 위해서는 양자의 결합이 필요하며, 이를 토대로 현실적 삶을 비판하고 대안을 제시할 수 있는 이론적 틀을 확보할 수 있다.
