In a debate, what kind of argument or what type of argumentation should we use? This paper gives an answer for this question. For this, I assume that in academic debates we deal with the issues requiring expertise and logical thinking. I argue the following three: First, we do not have to clearly distinguish argumentations from arguments. Second, moral argument is not only valid, but also pragma-dialectic. Thirdly, a practical inference can be used in formalizing argumentation. In addition, I propose a new evaluation criteria that enables us to decide which argumentation is more cogent in a debate.

토론이라는 대화를 구성하는 논증은 무엇이어야 하는가? 혹은 우리는 어떤 ‘논증행위’를 지향해야 하는가? 이 글은 토론 수업에서는 전문적인 내용과 논리적 사고를 요구하는 주제를 다룬다는 것을 전제로, 이 물음에 답하려는 시도이다. 이를 위해 필자는 세 가지를 주장한다. 첫째, '논증'과 '논증행위'를 날카롭게 구별할 필요가 없다. 둘째, 도덕 논증은 연역적으로 타당할 뿐만 아니라 화용-대화론적이다. 셋째, 실천추론은 논증행위를 이루는 요소일 수 있다. 아울러 필자는 토론에서 논증행위의 설득력을 평가할 수 있는 기준을 제시한다.
