This paper analyses and evaluates the role of philosophical investigation in the discussion concerning the agency of intellgent artefacts, i.e. artificial systems equipped with certain level of intelligence. This discussion, which deals with everyday situations of social reality in the very near future, illustrates genuine and practical contribution of philosophy to multidisciplinary cooperation, which is essential for solving those complex problems that our society shall meet. The core value of philosophical discussion in such situations lies in its critical meta-perspective. The so-called yung-hap, a popular trend in academic discourse in Korea since a decade, would hardly make progress, if it were not for the working intervention of philosophy and philosophers.

이 논문은 지능을 가진 인공물의 지위에 대한 토론, 곧 그런 인공물에 행위주체의 지위를 부여하는 것이 적절하거나 가능한가 하는 토론을 바탕으로 학제적 협력의 상황에서 철학의 역할을 분석하고 평가한다. 이는 오늘의 사회가 요구하는 전문분야들 간의 융합적 협동 작업에서 철학에 요청되는 기여가 실제로 어떤 것인지를 보여주는 현실적 사례라는 의미를 지닌다. 이 토론은 아주 가까운 미래에 이 사회에서 빈발하게 될 상황을 다루는데, 그런 상황을 적절하고 일관성 있게 다룰 수 있기 위해서는 문제의 상황에 연관된 여러 전문분야의 개념들과 원리들에 대한 비판적 종합의 시각이 필수적이다. 십여 년 전부터 개별과학과 공학의 전문가들이 주도하는 방식으로 전개되어 온 한국 사회의 융합 담론은 메타적-비판적 관점에서 활동하는 철학의 이런 적극적인 개입 없이는 제자리 맴돌기를 벗어나기 어렵다.
