The methodology controversy of psychological research about human mind had been around for a long time. Recently, this old debate enter upon new phase because a progress of brain science and neuroscience shows a new path to the understanding of human mind. Moreover, a digital technology try to represent the semantic experience of human being: virtual reality, mixed reality technology, and machine intelligence able to talk with human being etc. In this paper, I tried to show the new implication of Husserl’s phenomenology and Vygotsky’s developmental psychology. They had criticised the contemporary methodology of the psychology which stuck to methodological reductionism, because it could not afford to explicate the human experience of meaning. This critics is still unrepealed and has a vitality in regards to the high tech which try to represent the human experience. And hereby, I want to show the possibility of collaboration between Humanities and Engineering sciences.

인간의 심적 현상을 연구하는 좋은 방법은 무엇인가라는 물음은 오래된 논쟁거리였다. 이러한 방법론 논쟁은 최근 첨단 기술의 개발과 더불어 새로운 국면을 맞고 있다. 뇌과학과 신경과학의 발전, 인간의 의미론적 체험을 재현해 내는 첨단 기술의 발전 때문이다. 이러한 배경 아래서 후설과 비고츠키의 논의는 새롭게 조명될 여지가 있다. 비록 후설과 비고츠키가 심리학을 대하는 태도에는 차이가 있지만, 적어도 당시 심리학의 환원주의적 접근 방식으로는 인간의 의미현상을 제대로 포착해낼 수 없다는 점에서는 일치된 견해를 보인다. 이러한 비판은 오늘날의 상황에서도 여전히 유효하다. 이 글은 심리학의 방법론 논쟁을 실마리 삼아 후설의 생활세계 현상학과 비고츠키의 발달심리학적 논의가 오늘날 인간의 의미론적 체험들을 재현해내고자 하는 첨단 기술들에 대해 어떤 의미를 갖고 있는지를 밝히고자 한다. 아울러 이러한 논의를 통해 공학과 인문학이 협업할 수 있는 하나의 가능성을 보이고자 한다.
