The purpose of this paper is to study translation aspects of special exhibition information texts posted on the National Museum of Korea homepage. As they are prepared by a public institution of the highest authority in the field to introduce Korea’s representative cultural heritage, the information texts and translations of these texts are of great importance and have representation to serve as a reference or standard for translations of other texts in a similar genre. According to classification of text types, exhibition information texts belong to appellative texts. As such, translation of such texts needs various efforts to enhance receptivity of readers and to address them. This paper examines aspects of translations in practice as well as factors influencing such translations and their effects through comparative analysis of Korean and Japanese versions of exhibition information texts prepared by the National Museum of Korea. The paper analyzes characteristic aspects of the texts by dividing them into title translation, ommission, insertion, substitution, and expression in translation. The result of the analysis shows that ommission, insertion, and substitution were employed in the translation of the texts depending on the degree of informativeness from the position of readers and differences in culture and discourse practices, and that omission was made the most. Based on the present conditions of translations identified from the analysis, the paper developed a research agenda that more objective criteria are needed for notation, insertion, and ommission in translating this type of texts.

본 논문은 국립중앙박물관의 홈페이지에 게재된 특별전시 안내 텍스트의 번역 양상 고찰 을 목적으로 한다. 국가의 대표적인 문화 유물을 소개하는 최고의 공적 기관이 작성한 안내 문과 그 번역문은 유사한 장르의 번역에 참고가 될 수 있고 기준도 될 수 있을 만큼 중요성 과 대표성을 가진다. 텍스트 타입에 따른 구분에서 작용적 텍스트에 속하는 전시 안내 텍스 트는 독자의 수용성과 독자에 대한 소구를 위해 번역에서 다양한 노력을 필요로 한다. 본 논 문에서는 국립중앙박물관 전시 안내 텍스트의 한국어와 일본어 번역본의 비교 분석을 통해 실제 번역의 양상과 그러한 번역에 영향을 미치는 요인 및 효과에 대해 고찰하였다. 분석 결 과, 특징적인 양상을 제목 번역, 생략, 삽입, 대체, 표현의 항목으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 독자 의 입장에서 본 정보성의 정도, 문화와 담화관습의 차이 등에 따라 생략, 삽입, 대체 번역이 이루어졌음을 알 수 있었고, 그 중 생략 사례가 가장 많았다. 분석을 통해 드러난 현재의 번 역 양상을 바탕으로, 이러한 유형의 텍스트 번역에 있어 표기와 삽입 및 생략에 대한 보다 객 관적인 기준이 필요하다는 과제가 도출되었다.
