In this paper I studied on the types and plastic beauty of men’s hair and headdress appearing at the people·living cultural paintings depicted on the murals of initial and middle stages in Goguryeo tombs. Firstly, as for hair style in men’s hair type, I discussed types of Pibal, Sokbal, Binbal, Sangtu, and Sakbal perspectively, among which I uttered Sangtu type as that affected from China. And as for hat, I discussed head towel, hood, Jeolpoong·Jowoo Jeolpoong, Chaik, Sogol, Banghyung Sokwan, and Guanmo perspectively, among which I uttered Jeolpung, Chaik, Guanmo as that affected from China. Secondly, as for ‘Usage of Refined Mogufa and Goulefa’ for the plastic beauty of men’s hair type, I discussed the examples used for men’s hair type and hat as two coloring types in Gogyryeo tomb murals. As for men’s hair type and hat in ‘Dynamic and Subtle Brushstroke’, I discussed the examples with dynamic and subtle expressions evoked by the outlines’ intensity and width that are moulded by refined brushstrokes. Finally, as for men’s hair type and hat in ‘Expression of Three-dimensional Effect’, I discussed the aesthetic characteristics evoked by both the three fourth frontality representation of individual figure and the positioning of such figures with dialectical directionality in the composition. In conclusion, it showed that men’s hair types appearing in Goguryeo Tomb Mural are mixed with Chinese one, but Goguryeo people established further development even with Chinese one. And I could discover the advanced appearance in the represented level from the initial to the middle stage.

고구려 고분 벽화들 중에서 초기와 중기의 것들을 대상으로 특히 인물·생활풍속도에 등장하는 남성두식의 유형 및 조형미를 고찰했다. 첫째, 남성두식의 유형에서 머리모양의 경우에는 피발형, 속발형, 빈발형, 상투형과 삭발형으로 구분해서 논했으며, 중국의 영향을 받은 것으로 상투형을 언급하였다. 그 리고 모자의 경우에는 머리 수건, 두건, 절풍·조우절풍, 책, 소골, 방형소관, 관모로 구분 해서 논했는데, 중국의 영향을 받은 것으로는 절풍, 책, 관모를 언급하였다. 둘째, 남성두식의 조형미에 대하여 ‘세련된 몰골법과 구륵법 활용’에서는 고구려 고 분벽화의 두 채색 화법이 남성의 머리모양과 모자의 경우에 활용된 사례들을 논했다. ‘역동성 있는 정교한 필체’에서는 머리모양과 모자의 경우에 세련된 필체가 빚어내는 윤곽선의 강약, 두께 조절로 인한 역동성과 정교한 표현이 드러난 사례들을 언급하였 다. 끝으로 ‘입체감 표현’에서는 머리모양과 모자의 경우에 공히 개개 인물의 ¾ 전방형 표현과 그 인물들의 화면 포치에서의 대각선적인 방향성으로 인한 심미적인 특성을 논했다. 결론적으로 고구려 고분 벽화에 나타난 남성두식은 중국과의 문물교류를 통하여 형 성된 것과 고구려 고유의 것이 혼재했는데, 대부분 중국으로부터 유입한 사례에서도 진일보한 표현을 발견할 수 있었다. 그리고 초기로부터 중기로 넘어감에 따라 표현된 수준에 있어서도 전반적으로 진일보한 모습을 발견할 수 있었다.
