The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences of global citizenship and global Saemaul spirit by major, year, characteristics of overseas experiences and volunteer activities. Also, It focuses on finding implications for improving global citizenship and global Saemaul spirit for university students. As a result of the study, the group majoring in Saemaul Studies International Development showed a higher level of global citizenship and global Saemaul spirit than other major groups. Also, the group with overseas experiences and the group with more numbers of overseas visiting countries showed higher levels of global citizenship and global Saemaul spirit than non-overseas experienced group. In addition, the university students with experiences of volunteering in domestic and abroad showed higher global citizenship and global Saemaul spirit than students without volunteering experiences. Based on results, this study indicated that education of Saemaul Studies International Development is practically helpful to improving the global citizenship and global Saemaul Spirit for university Students.

본 연구의 목적은 대학에 재학 중인 청년들에게 필요한 세계시민의식과 협동, 나눔, 봉사 등 공동체에 기여하는 가치로 구성된 글로벌새마을정신이 학생들의 전공, 학년, 해외경험특성, 자원봉사활동 등의 배경적 특성에 따라 어떠한 차이가 나타나는지를 분석하고, 이를 기반으로 대학생들의 세계시민의식과 글로벌새마을정신 함양을 위한 시사점을 얻고자 하는 데 있다. 연구결과는 새마을국제개발 전공 학생들이 타전공 학생들보다 더 높은 수준의 세계시민의식과 글로벌새마을정신을 보여주고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 해외경험특성의 경우 더 많은 나라를 경험한 학생들이 경험이 없는 집단보다 더 높은 수준의 세계시민의식과 글로벌새마을정신을 보여주고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 국내 혹은 해외 자원봉사 경험이 있는 집단이 없는 집단보다 더 높은 수준의 세계시민의식과 글로벌새마을정신을 보여주는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 대학이 전공교육을 비롯해 교양과목이나 비교과 활동을 통해 학생들의 세계시민의식과 글로벌새마을정신의 함양에 기여할 수 있음을 의미하며, 학습자들이 대학에서의 교육 경험을 통해 세계시민으로서 의식수준과 글로벌새마을정신의 수준을 제고 할 수 있음을 시사한다.
