Today, the garbage problem of packaging materials is a direct disaster to mankind such as environmental pollut ion and weather change. Therefore, this research propose s sustainable technology and utilization strategies for sm art package design throughout the life cycle, where packa ge design is an environmental problem, and tries to contri bute to the realization of a recycling economy. This resea rch focuses on literature research and derives keywords through conceptual and trend analysis. Examples require d for each keyword were analyzed. The case analysis coll ected examples of smart package design implemented in each country in the last five years since the announceme nt of the EU's cyclical economic policy in 2015, and analy zed its technology and strategy. As a result of the resear ch, the strategic keywords for smart package design, whi ch are required for the life cycle of the cyclical economy, were derived to a total of seven. The strategies for each stage are as follows: Environmentally friendly materials to reduce environmental impact, minimize unnecessary in dustrial processes, optimize eco-design, introduce produc tion technologies that extend the life of products and pac kages, monitoring systems to improve durability, use of non-materialization technologies to digitize physical obje cts to eliminate waste generation, green consumption in which companies and consumers participate together for zero waste, and finally collect waste raw materials for re cycling resources. As a result, multi-dimensional ecosyst em innovation such as people, environment, and profit is necessary to realize a cyclical economy through smart pa ckage design. The use of smart package design is still la cking in its influence, but it will change our lifestyles fro m a macro perspective and eventually affect the symbiosi s of quality and value of our lives.

오늘날 포장재 쓰레기문제는 환경오염과 기상이변 등 인 류의 직접적인 재앙이 될 것이라는 점을 자각하게 한다. 이에 본 연구는 패키지디자인이 환경적으로 문제가 되는 수명주기 의 전 과정에서, 스마트패키지디자인의 지속가능한 기술과 활용전략을 제안하여 순환경제 실현에 기여하고자 한다. 본 연구는 문헌연구를 중심으로 개념과 동향분석을 통해 키워드 를 도출하고. 각 키워드에 필요한 사례를 분석하였다. 사례분 석은 2015년 EU의 순환경제 정책 발표이후 부터 최근 5년간 순환경제 실현을 위해 각 나라에서 실행하고 있는 스마트패 키지디자인의 사례를 수집하여 기술과 전략을 분석하였다. 연구결과 순환경제의 수명주기에서 요구되는 스마트패키지 디자인의 전략 키워드는 총 7가지로 도출되었으며, 각 단계별 전략은 다음과 같다. 환경영향을 저감시키는 친환경 소재 사 용, 불필요한 산업 공정을 줄이는 최소화, 최적화된 에코디자 인, 제품과 패키지의 수명을 연장시키는 스마트기술 도입, 내 구성을 향상시키는 모니터링 시스템, 물리적 객체를 디지털 화하여 폐기물 자체의 발생을 제거하는 비물질화 기술, 제로 쓰레기를 위해 기업과 소비자가 함께 참여하는 녹색소비, 마 지막으로 자원의 순환을 위한 폐기물 원료 회수가 있었다. 결 과적으로 스마트패키지디자인을 통한 순환경제 실현을 위해서는 사람, 환경, 이윤이라는 다차원적인 에코시스템 혁신이 필요하다. 스마트패키지디자인의 활용은 아직은 그 영향력이 미비하지만 거시적인 관점에서 우리의 생활방식을 바꾸고 결 과적으로 우리의 삶의 질과 가치상생에 영향을 미칠 것이다.
