The purpose of this paper is to understand modern worship positively by studying the correlations of liturgy, life, and mission. This study can be an answer to many questions about varied liturgy, new ritual, and new worship environment. The correlations of liturgy, life, and mission is characterized into four points. First, the modern worship which focuses on the life of worshippers and their participation expresses the definition of worship which means ‘service.’ The message of service of Christ is the standard of worship as service. Second, liturgy expresses the value and action of life of worshipper. The reason of this possibility is the liturgy was not formed by canon, but by the narrative of Christ who come for this worship. Third, through preaching, prayer and praise, Lord’s supper and baptism which express Jesus’ narrative worshippers participate in world and live in gospel and form the ethic of the world. Fourth, this world is not only the place for the life of worshippers but also the place for worship. It must be avoid that worship fall into superstitious religious ritual by the separation of worship and world with the frame of sacred and secular. The world, secular place, turn into the place of worship by the word of God and prayer. Through liturgy which expresses Jesus’ mind and action the worshippers confirms their identity and value as the body of Christ for the faith community and the world. Every Christian, a minister of Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, give an offering acceptable to God with the Gentiles, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

이 연구는 예배, 삶, 선교의 상관관계를 고찰함으로 급변해가는 현대교회 예배 현 상을 이해하려는 목적을 지닌다. 예전과 삶과 복음선포적 활동의 긴밀한 상호보완적 관계는 현대교회 예배를 새롭게 바라볼 수 있는 통로가 된다. 그동안 논란이 되고 있 는 현대 예배의 변형된 예전이나 새로운 예배요소 그리고 파격적인 예배환경의 도입 에 대한 대답이 되기 때문이다. 여기서 네 가지 특징으로 요약된다. 첫째, 예배 회중 의 삶과 그들의 참여에 초점이 맞춰져 있는 현대예배는 섬김(service)의 예배적 정의 를 성실히 표현하고 있다. 이웃을 위해 십자가를 지신 그리스도의 섬김의 도는 섬김 으로서의 예배의 기준이 된다. 둘째, 예전과 의례는 예배자의 삶의 가치와 방식을 표 현한다. 이것이 가능한 이유는 예전과 의례가 예배법전에 의해서가 아니라 세상을 위해 오신 그리스도의 섬김의 내러티브를 통해 이루어졌기 때문이다. 셋째, 예수의 내러티브를 표현하고 있는 설교, 기도와 찬송, 성례전을 통해 예배들을 세상에 참여시키고 복음을 실행하게 하며 세상의 윤리를 형성해 간다. 넷째, 세상이 복음의 삶을 이루며 예배드리는 장소가 된다. 과거 역사적 논쟁에서 본 것처럼 예배드릴 수 있는 거룩한 장소를 성별하는데 머무르는 것이 아니라 초대교회 공동체를 상기할 때, 또한 현대사회의 새로운 방식의 신앙공동체 개념을 수용할 때 예배자들의 생활공간이 예배 장소 가 될 수 있다. 세상이란 세속의 장소는 말씀과 기도로 거룩한 예배의 장소(딤전4:5) 가 된다. 예배자는 십자가에서 섬김의 본을 보이신 그리스도를 마음과 행위를 표현 하는 예전을 실행하며 그리스도를 닮는 새로운 피조물이 된다. 예배자는 새로운 마음 으로 하나님이 지으신 세상을 바라며, 하늘의 찬송과 땅의 기쁨의 노래에 참여하며 아름다운 덕을 선전하는 신령한 제사를 드린다(벧전2:9). 예배자는 복음을 전하는 제 사장으로 성령 안에서 사랑과 정의에 대한 비전을 품고 이웃과 사회를 제물로 드리는 그리스도의 일군이 된다(롬15:16).
