The aim of this essay is to explore Shining City and The Weir as the micronarrative reflection and intervention in the transition of Irish identity. This paper defines McPherson as a writer tracking changes in Ireland and analyzes the meaning of monologues and ghost stories shown in the two works as the process of identity formation, and the various aspects of communication between characters from the perspective of the affectus network. The speakers in the work play a role in creating identity through a collaborative process of talking to the audience. This article suggests that these characters are affectus alienation and their actions are made to experience the political transition of affectus that triggers some unfamiliar and uncomfortable response to us through verbal involvement.
