The purpose of this study is to analyze each instrument group based on the theory of musical acoustics, and to implement rational and effective sounds, based on the result values derived, to the instrumentation of Korean music orchestra. To do this, firstly I analyzed the musical acoustics of Korean instruments used in Korean music orchestra. After classifying each instrument group into aerophones and chordophones, I measured the decibel intensity level(dBIL), converted it to decibel loudness level(dBLL) depending on the way the instrument is played, and calculated the decibel loudness level corresponding to the increasing quantity of instruments. Also in order to conduct musical acoustic analysis for the instrumentation of Korean music orchestra, I studied the instrumentation of Korean music orchestra in the Seoul Metropolitan area and examined advantages and disadvantages in terms of the musical acoustics of the instrumentation. Through this, I was able to identify issues that must be solved to realize more rational and effective sounds of the Korean music orchestra. In order for the Korean music orchestra to advance further, studies based on the theory of musical acoustics such as this must continue. Then, rational instrumentation for Korean music orchestra, with acoustics as effective as the Western orchestra can be established.

본 연구는 음악음향학 이론을 바탕으로 각각의 악기군을 분석하고 도출된 결과값을 기반으로 한 합리적이고 효과적인 사운드를 국악관현악 편성에 구현하려는 목적으로 접근하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 국악관현악에 편성되는 국악기의 음악적 음향 분석을 실행하였다. 각 악기군을 관악기와 현악기로 분류하여 강도수준(dBIL: decibel intensity level)을 측정하고, 연주법에 따른 강도수준을 음량(dBLL: decibel loudness level)으로 변환한 후, 각 악기의 수량 증가에 따른 음량을 산출하고 정리하였다. 또한 국악관현악단의 편성을 위한 음악적 음향 분석을 위해서 수도권에 위치한 국 악관현악단의 편성형태에 대해서 알아보고, 편성형태에 따른 유형별 음향적 장점과 단점에 대해서 살펴보았다. 그리고 이를 통해 보다 합리적이고 효과적인 국악관현악 사운드를 구현해내기 위해 앞으로 해결해야 하는 과제들을 정리할 수 있었다. 국악관현악이 더욱 발전하기 위해서는 음향학 이론을 바탕으로 하는 이와 같은 연 구가 지속적으로 수행되어야만 한다. 그렇게 된다면, 서양 오케스트라 못지않게 효과 적인 음향을 갖춘 국악관현악을 위한 합리적인 편성 형태가 완성되리라고 생각한다.
