The aims of this study is to examine the current situation of youth participation in the policy decision making process and to explore how to facilitate youth participation. In order to do this, literature review and analysis of regulation about youth assembly based in local community society. Based on the results above, this study suggests several basic strategies to activate and improve youth political participation in local community; strengthening the initiative of youth based on institution such as regulation, implementing youth’s self-governing through sustainable participation, and self-development through various participation experience. Therefore, these strategies will show that youth participation bring in positive changes such as increasing citizenship skills; community consciousness, trust, political efficacy and self-governing.

지역사회 청소년 정치참여를 강조하는 이유 가운데는 민주적인 방식으로 정책대상자인 지역사회 시 민 주체가 의견을 제시하고 의사결정에 직⋅간접적인 영향을 미치게 하기 위한 목적이 있다. 지역사회 시민자치는 강한 민주주의를 가능하게 한다. 이는 시민인 청소년에게도 해당되며 자신들의 의사를 표 출하고 의사결정하는 일련의 과정을 통해 자연스럽게 정치사회화 경험을 한다. 본 연구에서는 청소년의회가 지역사회 정치사회화를 위한 공간으로서 어떻게 정립되고 있는가에 대 해 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 바탕으로 정치사회화 공간으로서 청소년의회를 통한 참여가 보편적 차원의 청소년 정치문화로 형성되기 위한 방안을 모색해 보도록 하겠다.
