This study focuses on the factors inside the text of Moments of Desire to Stay that have made it so popular. First, I take note of the details of writing that enhance the romanticism of the content.　I also sought to find out the motivation for creating the work by thinking about the romantic love characteristics in the prologue. In Moments of Desire to Stay rhetorical elements that enhance the romantic nature of the novel are cast as lyrical style, imagery, and the resulting lyrical tragedy. Just as scenes in the novel move from image to image and present pictures to the reader, the atmosphere of the scene can replace the theme of the work. A poetic style that weakens the causality of an epic sentence is short, while Park Gye-hyeong maintains a short breath by dividing paragraphs with short sentences. These signature rhythmical sentences create a sensuous atmosphere and do not disturb the reader’s immersion in the narrative structure. As a result of examining the essence of romanticism and creative intention through the preface of the novel, it is not probable but fictitious, not practical, but fictitious. Park Gye-hyeong’s fantasy novel is a wonderful dream and a beautiful imagination: the sum of impractical impossibility. The author's introduction of romantic love and the impractical impossibility of eternal love is the realism that this novel has built. Along with it, the novel replaces the "realistic" writer's responsibility for the impossibility of romantic love, given that it begins with the protagonist's death sentence and ends with death.

본고는 『머무르고 싶었던 순간들』의 구체적 인기 요인을 텍스트 내부에 집중하여 살펴보았다. 먼저 내용의 낭만성을 증폭시키는 글쓰기의 디테일(기법)에 주목함으로써 박계형 소설을 ‘소설답게’ 분석하고자 하였고, 작가가 구현한 낭만적 사랑의 본질을 ‘머리글’을 통해 추론함으로써 작품 창작의 동기를 연역적 방식으로 접근해 보고자 하였다. 『머무르고 싶었던 순간들』에서는 소설의 낭만성을 강화시키는 수사학 적 요소들로 서정적 문체, 이미지를 통한 감각의 형상화와 이로 인한 서 정적 비극성이 주조되고 있다. 작품의 외피(차례)는 철저히 시간의 흐름, 성장의 시간을 따르지만 이 작품이 서사적이라고 느껴지지 않는 것은 무 시간성 때문이다. 세계에 대한 객관적 인식이 아니라 화자의 자기인식을 직접적으로 형상화하였고 그 형상화의 대부분이 이미지에 기대고 있다. 짧은 문장이 주는 간결성과 문장과 문장을 걸쳐 수놓은 시적인 순간들은 이 작품의 수사학적 장치이며 이러한 서사적 디테일이 내용적 서정성과 합치되어 소설의 낭만성을 증폭시켰던 것이다. 박계형이 그려내는 ‘철저한’ 낭만성은 이상주의적 요소, 영원한 사랑에 대한 과도한 신비화와 맞물려 반시대성, 반지성주의, 비현실성 등으로 비 판을 받아왔다. 하지만 소설의 ‘머리글’을 통해 낭만성의 본질 및 작품 창 작 의도를 살핀 결과, 박계형은 멋진 꿈이자 아름다운 상상으로, 현실 불 가능성의 총합으로 이 소설을 쓴 것이다. 즉 박계형의 소설이 낭만성의 성질 중 공상력, 상상력을 극대화한 것은 역설적으로 그렇지 못한 현실의 또 다른 반영인 것이다. 박계형의 낭만적 연애소설의 유례 없는 대성공의 이유는 여기에 있다.
