The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of happenstance skills of independent workers on the meaning of work and mediating role of meaningful work on life satisfaction. We conducted structural equation modelling based on the data collected by surveys from 107 independent corporate instructors of which 103 reponses were valid. The main results of this study are as follows. The happenstance skills had a significant effect on the meaningful work. Meaningful work completely mediated happenstance skills and life satisfaction, which is a distinctive result from previous studies. The significance of this study is that it clarified the relationship between happenstance skills, meaningful work and life satisfaction, and meditating role of meaningful work on happenstance skills and life satisfaction. This study concludes with a suggestion that the recovery of meaning of work is an important factor for life satisfaction of independent workers who are working in the world of uncertainty. We also suggest that enhancing independent workers' happenstance skills through education can facilitate meaningfulness of work they form. It also suggested the limitations of the study.

본 연구는 독립근로자들이 불확실성을 대하는 능동적 태도인 우연기술이 일의 의미 형성 및 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향과 매개관계를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 독립근로자인 독립기업교육강사들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 이를 구조 방정식으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같았다. 우연기술은 일의 의미 형성에 유의적 영향을 주었으며, 선행연구와는 달리 일의 의미는 우연기술과 삶 만족도를 완전 매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 우연기술과 일의 의미 형성간의 관계와 일의 의미가 우연 기술과 삶 만족도를 완전 매개한다는 것을 규명했다는 것에서 의의가 있다. 또한, 일의 세계 변화와 일하는 방식이 급격히 변화하는 불확실성 속에 놓여있는 독립근로자들에게 일의 의미 회복은 삶의 만족에 중요한 요소이며, 불확실성을 대하는 능동적 태도인 우연기술의 교육을 통해 일의 의미를 긍정적으로 형성해 나갈 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.
