This paper aims to comprehensively examine the current status of the world Korean literary circle and the diaspora aspects in which research and discourse became active as a new field of research in the 2000s and to find a desirable direction. Based on the views of Carlton J.H. Hayes, who advocated cultural nationalism in modern times, this approach is commensurate with Goethe’s that he practiced mutual exchange of world literature with Herder, who published a unique theory of national literature in the 18th century. Therefore, among the Hankyoreh, the Korean race inhabiting abroad, which accounts for 10 percent of the population of the Korean Peninsula, the works of writers from Korean literary circles, which are meant for literature, are divided into two groups in this paper. First of all, the groups are the literary circle of ethnic Koreans living in China that crossed the Yalu River near the border with the Korean Peninsula and have lived there since the end of Joseon Dynasty and that of the Goryeo people, who lived in the Maritime Province of Siberia beyond the Tumen River and were forced to move to Central Asia in 1937. These Korean-Chinese and Goryeo literary circles, which went out of the Korean peninsula in the opposite direction of the clock, have persisted in the veil of socialism. Compared to the above, the following groups are a contrast to the case in which they voluntarily chose after the 1960s and immigrated toward the free camp along the clock's forward direction, which are Toronto, L.A., New York in North America, Sao Paulo, Buenos Airesin in South America, Sydney in Oceania, and Berlin, Frankfurt, Vienna in Europe. The Korean–language literary circle, centered on Koreatown, is connected to Almaty, in Central Asia, which was previously forcibly relocated, forming an elliptical flower garden for the Korean literary circle in the global community. Unlike the powerful nations of the previous century, which occupied the neighboring countries with force and economic power, Korean culture is advancing into the world as a self-healing through effective diffusion of literature. Now that the literary achievements of the next generation of Koreans, who write in the local language of the immigrant country, are ultimately converging into Hankyoreh literature, it is desirable to break down the wall of recommending only Hangeul. It is also desirable for those who have been adopted by foreign countries or multicultural families to use Korean and local languages together. Nowadays, it is easy to get help from a practical translator and interact with them with interest. Consequently, it is possible to learn Korean or foreign languages with an identity, and also join the world literary circle.

이 논문은 2000년대에 들어서 새로운 연구 분야로 조사와 담론이 활발해진 세계 코리안문단의 현황과 디아스포라 양상에 대하여 총괄적으로 고찰하고 바람직한 방향 찾기를 목적으로 한다. 현대에 문화적 민족주의를 내세운 칼튼 J.H. 해이스의 견해를 기조로 한 이 접근은 전 세기에 개성적인 민족문학론을 편 헤르더와 함께 세계문학의 상호교류를 실천한 괴테에도 상응된다. 따라서 현재 세계 각지에 나가 사는 한반도 인구의 10%에 이르는 한겨레 가운데 현 지 코리안문단에서 한글작품 등으로 활동하는 문인 대상을 크게 두 갈래로 나누어 접근한다. 먼저, 구한말 무렵부터 한반도 접경지역인 압록강 건너 중국 땅에 건너가 살던 조선족 계열 문단과 두만강을 넘어 연해주에 살다가 1937년에 중앙아시 아로 강제 이주된 고려인계열 문단이다. 한반도에서 시계의 역방향으로 나간 이들 조선족문단과 고려인문단은 사회주의권의 장막 속에서 지속되어 왔다. 위에 견주어 1960년대 이후 당사자가 자발적으로 선택해서 시계의 순방향을 따라 자유 진영 쪽으로 이민 나가 사는 경우는 대조적이다. 북미주의 토론토- LA- 뉴욕-남미주의 상파울루-부에노스아이레스- 오세아니아주의 시드니- 유 럽의 베를린-푸랑크푸르트- 비엔나 등. 이렇게 연결된 코리아타운 중심의 우리 한글문단은 이전에 강제 이주된 중 앙아시아의 알마티에 연결되면서 지구촌에 코리안문단의 타원형 화원을 이루 고 있다. 바야흐로 코리안문단은 무력과 경제력으로 이웃 나라를 점거하던 전 세기의 강국들과 달리 문학의 나비 효과적인 확산을 통해서 세계지역으로 진 출해 나가는 양상이다. 이제는 각 지역의 한글문단과 이민국 현지어로 글을 쓰는 차세대 코리안들 의 문학 성과 역시 궁극적으로는 한겨레문학으로 수렴되는 만큼 문단의 언어 도 한글만을 권하는 벽을 허물어야 한다. 이민자 교포 후손들이 현지어로 쓴 작품과 더불어 외국에 입양 나간 사람이나 다문화가족도 한글과 현지어를 함 께 활용함이 바람직하다. 요즘은 실용적인 번역기의 도움을 받을 수 있고 흥 미를 갖고 교류하게 된다. 그러다 보면 한글이나 외국어를 정체성 있게 함께 익혀서 세계문단에도 함께하게 마련이다.
