In the future, discussions on Zainichi Korean literature must overcome the aspect of a proxy war that reproduces literary confrontations and conflicts between the two Koreas. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention to the writers and works that defined the direction of overcoming division and unification as the direction of Zainichi Korean literature and maintained a constant distance from all three branches: the South, the North and Japan. These three poets, Kang Soon, Kim Yun, and Kim Si-jong, are Korean-Japanese poets who tried to realize the independence and speciality of Korean-Japanese in the true sense of the word, who were not bound to any of the three branches of South Korea, North Korea and Japan. Among these poets, this paper firstly studied the poems of Kim Si-jong, who is currently being translated and introduced most actively within the Korean literary landscape. Kim Si-jong's poem is based on the confusion of liberation, the memory of Jeju April 3rd, and the wounds and suffering of Korean residents in Japan who had no choice but to leave their homeland and settle in a strange Japan. In particular, his poem is drawing keen attention in that it emphasized the independence of "Japan" beyond the oppression and closeness of ethnic or national ideology, showing an active will to resolve these historical issues from the perspective of Koreans in Japan, not from the perspective of the South, the North and Japan. As such, Kim Si-jong believed that the existential basis of "Japan" lies in "unification," and thought it was the right direction for Korean-Japanese literature to go to open up the possibility of unification that would break the boundaries between the South and the North by penetrating the cracks in Japan. The Literature of Zainichi Koreans should be able to present a role and practical direction, such as a milestone in opening up an era of true unification, which shows the reasons for integration beyond ideological confrontation and boundaries between the South and the North. This direction should not only encompass the history of the past and the current experience, but also have the aspects of continuity moving forward into the future. It is necessary to productively recognize the creative meaning generated from the boundary beyond the extreme dualization of the Korean-Japanese society, which has followed the ideological confrontation between the South and the North.

앞으로 재일조선인문학에 대한 논의는 남북 간의 문학적 대립과 갈등을 그 대로 재현하는 대리전 양상을 반드시 극복해야 한다. 따라서 분단 극복과 통 일 지향을 재일조선인문학의 방향성으로 규정하고 남과 북 그리고 일본이라 는 세 지점으로부터 모두 일정하게 거리를 유지했던 작가와 작품을 특별히 주목할 필요가 있다. 이러한 문학적 지향성을 드러낸 재일조선인 시인으로 남 과 북 그리고 일본이라는 세 지점 가운데 어느 쪽으로도 구속되지 않으려 했 던, 진정한 의미에서 재일조선인의 독자성과 특수성을 구현하려 노력한 김시종의 시세계는 상당히 중요한 의미가 있다. 김시종의 시는 해방의 혼란과 제주 4·3의 기억 그리고 이로 인해 조국을 떠나 낯선 일본에 정착할 수밖에 없었던 재일조선인으로서의 상처와 고통에 토대를 두고 있다. 특히 그의 시는 민족 혹은 국가 이데올로기의 억압과 폐쇄 성을 넘어서 ‘재일’의 독자성을 강조함으로써, 이러한 역사적 문제를 남과 북 그리고 일본의 시각이 아닌 재일조선인의 주체적 관점에서 해결해 나가려는 적극적인 의지를 보였다는 점에서 주목된다. 이처럼 김시종은 ‘재일’의 실존 적 근거는 ‘통일’에 있다고 보고 재일의 틈새를 파고들어 남과 북의 경계를 무너뜨리는 통일의 가능성을 열어내는 것이 재일조선인 시문학이 가야 할 올 바른 방향성이라고 생각했다. 재일조선인 시문학은 남과 북의 이데올로기적 대립과 경계를 넘어서는 통 합의 사유를 보여주는, 그래서 진정한 통일 시대를 열어가는 이정표와 같은 역할과 실천적 방향을 제시할 수 있어야 한다. 이러한 방향성은 과거의 역사 와 현재의 경험을 동시에 아우르는 것이어야 할 뿐만 아니라 미래로 나아가 는 연속성의 측면도 아울러 지녀야 한다. 남과 북의 이데올로기적 대립을 답 습해온 재일조선인 사회의 극단적 이원화를 넘어서 그 경계에서 생성되는 창 조적 의미를 생산적으로 인식할 필요가 있는 것이다.
