The COVID-19 virus has caused the church to face a number of unforeseen problems with non-face-to-face worship. In addition to loosening the framework of time and space given at the church every week, various discussions on the concept of the Lord’s day and worship were held. The main concern of such discussions was the suitability of offering alternative services outside the traditional boundaries of the church. In addition, there are arguments for and against the possibility of online Holy Communion. This paper aims to explore the nature of church and worship that should be important to consider before such discussions. In addition to the possibilities provided by digital media, the problems of inequality, such as ‘Digital Divides’ are also analyzed. With this purpose, this thesis is carried out in the following order: first, the writer briefly describes the reality of digital media with the consideration of the ministry of today’s churches. Second, the writer will introduce fundamental characteristics and elements of the church and worship to analyze today’s phenomena. Third, the writer analyzes contributions and challenges of the digital media. Fourth, in the age of digital media, the writer presents examples of alternative worship outside the traditional boundaries of the church. Therefore, this paper focuses on the desirable application of digital media in the context of church ministry and explores practical solutions to the various unexpected problems. The careful research based on the actual examples of the church ministry is presented. The goal of the article is to set a desirable borderline and find the identity and role of the church that embraces both traditions and the era of digital media.

코로나 19 바이러스로 인해 비대면 예배가 시행되면서 한국교회는 여러 가지 예상하지 못했던 문제에 봉착하게 되었다. 매 주일 교회에서 드린다는 시간과 공간의 얼개가 느슨해지는 것은 물론이고 주일과 예 배의 개념에 대한 다양한 논의들이 개진되었다. 그러한 논의의 주된 관 심사는 전통적 경계선 밖에서 드리는 대안 예배의 적합성에 대한 것이 다. 아울러 온라인 성찬의 가능성 여부에 대한 찬반 논의가 이어지고 있다. 본고는 그러한 논의들 이전에 중요시해야 할 예배와 교회의 본질 에 대한 탐구를 목적으로 한다. 디지털 미디어가 제공하는 가능성과 더 불어 디지털 격차와 같은 불평등의 문제를 교회론적, 예전적으로 분석 하여 예배가 가져야 할 보편적 요소, 본질적 요소를 제시한다. 이러한 목적을 가지고 본 논고는 다음과 같은 순서로 진행된다. 첫째, 디지털 미디어 시대의 도래와 교회가 처한 상황의 변화에 대한 연구결과들과 과제들을 간략하게 기술할 것이다. 둘째, 온라인 예배를 연구의 대상으로 삼기 위해 예배와 교회의 본질에 대한 접근을 통해 이 주제를 다룰 것이다. 셋째, 디지털 미디어가 가져다주는 순기능과 역기 능을 정리하고 분석할 것이다. 넷째, 디지털 미디어 시대에 교회의 전 통적 경계선 밖 대안 예배의 사례로 가정예배와 개인예배를 다루며 보 완해야 할 부분들을 제시할 것이다. 따라서 이 논문은 목회현장에서 디지털 미디어의 활용과 여러 가지 예상치 못했던 문제들에 대한 실천적 해결방안을 모색하는데 초점을 둔다. 더불어 실제 현장에서 벌어진 사례들을 바탕으로 한 연구를 통해 이론적 분석이 갖는 한계를 극복하고 교회가 만든 경계선에 대한 새로 운 이해를 도모하며 전통뿐만 아니라 디지털 미디어 시대를 아우르는 교회와 예배의 정체성과 역할을 제고하는 기회를 가질 것이다.
