This article focused on the connection between Royal women and literary materials in Eonmun of the Joseon Dynasty. In particular, this paper focused on the works in Eonmun of the Queens and tried to gauge the macroscopic outlines and aspects of the life-world in Royal Palace. Eonmun(諺文) was also important to the Queens as a means of communication and self-expression. They wrote letters in Eonmun[Eongan(諺簡)], and sometimes issued some Govenmental messages in Eonmun[Eongyo(諺敎)] officially. They also left an independent writing in Eonmun[Writing in Korean(諺文著述)]. Their literary materials in Eonmun have slightly different characters, but they all tell us the vivid life and aspects of those days. Therefore, they can make it possible for us to pay attention to the history that is not revealed, such as daily life and life history, beyond the history that is revealed on the surface, such as the history of political history, institutional history, and the history of power change. In addition, they can guide us to the vivid historical narrative and writing. If you look at the contents of literary materials in Eonmun, you can see that their scope and sphere reach almost all areas of life. Such literary materials in Eonmun should first be read and then translated into modern Korean language. The role of the Korean language department and the Korean literature field are very important. Such basic work and research call and wait for the interdisciplinary approach. In other words, cooperative work and research is needed to review and reconstruct the situation of that time from historical and various perspectives.

이 글에서는 조선시대 왕실 여성과 언문자료의 연관성에 주목하고 있다. 특히 왕후들의 언문에 주목해서 그와 관련된 생활세계의 성격과 그 함의에 대해서 생각해보고자 했다. 언문은 왕후들에게도 의사소통 수단이자 자기표현 수단으로서 중요한 의미를 지니고 있었 다. 그들은 언문으로 편지를 썼으며, 특정한 상황 하에서는 공식적으로 언문으로 된 교서 를 내리기도 했다. 또한 언문으로 된 독립된 저작을 남기기도 했다. 그들 언문 자료는 성격은 조금씩 다르지만 당시의 생생한 삶의 모습들을 전해주고 있다. 따라서 종래의 정치 사, 제도사, 권력의 역사 등 표면에 드러나는 역사를 넘어서 일상생활과 생활사 등, 겉으로 드러나지 않는 역사에 주목할 수 있게 해준다. 아울러 생생하게 살아 있는 역사 서술을 가능하게 해준다. 언간에서 다루어지고 있는 내용을 보면 삶의 거의 모든 영역에 이르고 있기 때문이다. 이 같은 언문 자료는 일차적으로 판독 작업을 거쳐서 현대어로 번역하는 작업이 수행되어야 할 것이다. 역시 국어학과 국문학 분야의 역할이 크다고 하겠다. 그런 기초 작업을 토대로 당시의 상황을 역사학적인 관점에서 바라보고 재구성해가는 ‘학제간 연구’가 필요하다고 하겠다.
