This study explores the possibility of contextualization of Korean Christianity as it examines how Korean Christianity has been contextualized and been culturally rooted in this land so far since its introduction. Christianity has permeated through 120 years as one of main religious institutions in Korea. The problem is that Christianity is gradually losing its vitality and recently becoming a religion criticized by people in Korea. This research diagnoses the reason of this issue and endeavors to find a way how Christianity might be rooted firmly in this land. This research examines the process of indigenousization of Korean Christianity and explores the way how Christianity becomes the institution for salvation within this post-modern world which emphasizes the pluralism. Thus, this study proposes the way how Christianity can be deeply rooted and permeated into this post-modern society.

본 연구는 한국 기독교가 이 땅에 전래 된 이후 지금까지 어떻게 토착화되어 왔으며, 앞으로 어떻게 문화적으로 이 땅의 종교로 뿌 리내릴 수 있는지, 그 가능성을 탐구하는 것이다. 한국 기독교는 120년의 역사 속에서 스며들어 왔다. 문제는 현대에 와서 기독교가 조금씩 그 생명력을 잃어가고, 세상에서 비난받는 종교가 되고 있 다는 점이다. 그 이유를 찾아보고, 그것을 통해 기독교가 좀 더 깊 이 이 땅에 뿌리내릴 수 있는 길이 무엇인지를 고찰하고자 한다. 그연구를 위해 한국 기독교의 토착화의 과정을 살펴보고, 포스트 모 더니즘의 핵심 가치인 다원주의 정신이 확산하는 세상에서 유일한 구원의 길이 예수임을 내세우는 기독교를 대표하는 교회가 교회다 움을 잊어버리지 않고, 세상을 구원하는 종교로 남는 길이 무엇인 지를 모색하고자 한다. 그것이 기독교가 이 땅에 깊이 뿌리내려 스 며들 수 있는 길임을 밝히고자 한다.
