In this paper, In this paper, we examine the distribution patterns of in the Chungnam region and identify musical characteristics based on this. According to the lyrics of the chorus, it is divided into two types: bang-a-sori type and bang-gye-sori type. The bang-a-sori type is mainly composed of farming-related editorials and editorials related to mill. Many of bang-gye-sori type borrowed lyrics from folk songs. Bangsori type is mainly composed of yukjabaekitori. In addition to this, they sing in a mixed form of menaritori and yukjabaekitori and menaritori, gyeongtori, southern gyeongtori. On the other hand, in the Bang-gye-sori type, the southern Gyeongtori, Yukjabaekitori, and Gyeongtori appear evenly. It seems that the sound of the bang-a-sori in the Chungnam region is from other regions. As a result, musical features of various regions appear. There is a big difference in sound organization, beat, etc. from the sound of a bang-a-sori in the Chungbuk region.

본고에서는 충남지역 농요 중 <방아소리>의 분포양상을 살펴보고 이를 대상으로 음악적 특징 을 파악하고, 나아가 타 지역 <방아소리>의 음악적 특징과 비교를 통해, 충청도 지역 <방아소리> 의 특징에 대해 포괄적으로 살펴보았다. 충남지역의 <방아소리>는 아산, 천안 등의 동북지역과 대전, 금산 등의 동남지역에 많은 수가 분포하는 것으로 파악된다. 충남 서부권은 얼카덩어리류가 중심이 되며 홍성군을 제외하고는 <방 아소리>가 분포되지 않으며, 동부권에서 주로 <방아소리>가 분포한다. 후렴구의 가사에 따라 방아소리형과 방게소리형의 두 가지로 구분되며, 방아소리형은 긴방아, 느린방아, 짧은방아의 세 가지 유형, 방게소리형은 느린방게, 짧은방게의 두 가지 유형이 나타난 다. 이 중 방아소리형에서는 짧은방아의 비중이 높으며, 느린방아와 짧은방아를 연이서 노래하는 형태도 다소 보인다. 반면 방게소리형은 느린방게의 비중이 높으며 느린방게와 짧은방게를 잇대 어 노래하는 형태는 나타나지 않는다. 방아소리형은 농사와 관련된 사설과 방아에 관련된 사설이 주를 이루는데 반해 방게소리형은 통속민요의 가사를 차용한 것이 다수이다. 느린방아와 느린방게는 모두 3소박 불규칙장단으로 노래하고, 짧은방아는 3소박 4박의 규칙적인 장단, 짧은방게는 3소박 4박, 3소박 6박 등의 규칙적 인 장단으로 노래한다. 방아소리형은 육자백이토리가 주를 이루고, 메나리토리가 그 다음으로 분포하며, 메나리토리 와 육자백이의 혼합형, 신경토리도 보인다. 방게소리형은 육자백이토리와 남부경토리가 주를 이 루고, 이 외 신경토리와 경토리가 나타난다. 이는 방아소리형의 대표 음조직이 메나리토리고, 방게 소리형의 대표 음조직이 남부경토리이기 때문에 악곡의 대표적인 음조직과 함께 충남 지역의 토리인 육자백이토리가 같이 나타나는 것으로 판단된다. 각 지역별로 방아소리의 분포양상을 살펴보면, 경기지역과 전북지역, 충남지역은 방아소리형 과 방게소리형이 모두 나타나고 충북지역은 방아소리형만 나타난다. 이 중 경기지역은 방아소리 형이 우세하고, 충북지역은 방게소리형이 우세한 반면 충남지역은 방아소리형과 방게소리형이 비슷한 비중으로 분포한다. 방아소리형은 메나리토리가 가장 중심이 되는 음조직으로, 경기지역에서는 수심가토리, 충남 지역에는 육자백이토 등 지역의 대표 토리가 같이 나타나고 방게소리형은 남부경토리가 가장 중심이 되는 음조직으로 경기, 전북은 모두 남부경토리가 우세하지만 충남만 육자백이토리의 비 중이 비슷하게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다.
