In order to understand the folk culture of a specific country or ethnicity in depth, it is very important to understand the differences and the similarity of the two cultures through comparative studies with folk cultures. In the East Asian region, Mongolia is a country with high cultural affinity with Korea somehow. In particular, due to the human exchange between the Yüan Dynasty of Mongol and the Goryeo Dynasty in Korea, folklore and culture of both countries also spread interactively. In this way, there are plenty of research subjects that can be approached by comparative folklore studies between Korea and Mongolia in East Asia. Thus, it can be said that the comparative studies in specific fields in the folk cultures of both countries are meaningful from the perspective of comparative folklore. Therefore, in this study, expressions of the age lexicon according to age classification in Korea and Mongolia are approached through comparative folk studies. And expressions of the age lexicon according to age classification in both countries are compared each other. Finally, through this, it was derived that folk culture factors are reflected in the expression of age lexicon in Korea, which is the sedentary cultural region, and Mongolia, which is the nomadic cultural region in East Asia.

특정 국가 또는 민족의 민속문화를 심도 있게 이해하기 위해서는 다른 문화권 의 민속문화와의 비교연구를 통해 두 문화의 유사성과 함께 차이점을 이해하는 작 업은 매우 중요하다. 동아시아 지역에서 몽골은 한국과의 문화적 친연성이 높은 국가로서, 특히 고려시대 원나라와의 밀접한 교류로 인해 인적교류를 포함하여 양 국의 민속과 문화가 쌍방향적으로 전파되기도 하였다. 이처럼 동아시아 지역에서 역사적으로 몽골은 한국과의 비교민속적 접근을 통 해 연구할 수 있는 여러 연구대상이 존재하며, 양 국가의 민속문화에서 나타나는 특정 분야에서의 비교 연구는 비교민속학적인 관점에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. 문화비교론적 관점에서 정주문화권이자 유교문화권인 한국과 달리 유목문화권인 몽골에서의 나이 구분을 통한 시간어휘표현은 전통적으로 영위해 온 유목생활 과 몽골 유목민들이 오랜 시간 축적한 경험에서 비롯하는 요인이 크며, 이는 가축 을 나이 및 성별에 따라 구분했던 몽골인들의 유목민속적 풍습과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 한국과 몽골의 나이 구분에 따른 시간어휘표현을 비교 민 속학이라는 학제적 심화 연구를 통해 각 국가별로 상이한 두 문화가 시간어휘표현 에 어떻게 반영되고 있는지를 재해석하고 유사점과 차이점을 상세히 검토하였다.
