This study analyzed the effects of political/administrative factors, socioecoomic factors, and local financial factors on economic growth in Jeonbuk Province. For the research method, multiple regression analysis was used and vector error correction model was additionally used. The data was collected from 1994 to 2017. According to the analysis, out of five variables: total expenditure, national budget being used for national projects in Jeonbuk area and grants for Jeonbuk province, presidential election, budget execution capacity, and elderly population ratio, the national budget has a positive effect on Jeonbuk’s economic growth. Though it seems that the elderly population ratio has a positive effect on economic growth it is statistical, which needs the theoretical rationale. This suggests that the national budget that Jeonbuk province wants to get and the central government plans to spent for the government’s projects in Jeonbuk area is important. This also suggests that in-depth research is needed on the effect of the increase in the elderly population on economic growth.

본 연구는 지방재정적 요인에 총재정지출과 전라북도가 확보한 국가예산(중앙정부가 전북지역에 투 여한 국가예산)을 포함시켜, 전북지역의 경제성장에 정치·행정적 요인, 사회경제적 요인, 지방재정적 요인들이 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구방법으로는 다중회귀분석을 사용하였고 부가적으로 벡터오 차수정모형(VECM)을 사용하였다. 분석기간은 1994년부터 2017년까지이다. 분석 결과, 총세출, 국가예산, 대통령 선거, 예산집행능력, 노인인구비율 등 5개 변수 가운데, 국가 예산이 전북의 경제성장에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 노인인구비율도 경제성장에 영 향을 주는 것으로 나타났지만 이것은 통계적인 것이고 이론적 근거를 더 연구해야 할 것이다. 이러한 결과는 전북이 확보한 국가예산, 중앙정부가 전북에 투여한 국가예산이 전북의 경제성장에 중요하며 노인인구증가가 경제성장에 미치는 영향에 대한 보다 깊이 있는 연구가 필요하다는 점을 시사한다.
