The purpose of this study is to establish the retro culture phenomenon, which is popular in Korean society, as a field of humanities research, and to examine the direction of the research and the possibility of meaning that can be obtained through this study in a poetic way. Retro, which has appeared in Korean society since the late 1990s, is now being applied in various cultural areas. This retro craze in our society is only addressed in the fields of music, costumes, design and the media, but little research has been done in the humanities, for example in philosophy, literature and history. Retro's research in the field of humanities is not just a trend-seeking study, but a meaningful work for us to look back on the past and reflect on our present life. Considering that the essence of humanities research is to deal with the fundamental problems of human beings, and the overall cultural phenomena surrounding humans and humans, retro research is a worthy subject of research in the field of humanities. The study looked at the contents of the study, thinking about the possibility of research in retro humanities in Korean society. Through this study, we hope to promote professional research on retro in Korea in the future.

이 연구는 최근 한국에서 유행하는 레트로(Retro, 복고문화) 현상을 인문학 연구의 한 분야로 자리 매김하고, 그에 따른 연구의 방향, 이 연구를 통해서 얻을 수 있는 가능성을 타진하는 데에 목적이 있다. 1990년대 말부터 한국 사회에 등장한 레트로는 현재 다양한 문화 영역에서 적용되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 우리 사회의 레트로 열풍은 음악, 의상, 디자인, 언론 방면에서 주로 논의될 뿐, 인문학 분야에서는 관련 연구가 거의 이루어지지 않고 있다. 인문학에서의 레트로 연구는 단순히 유행을 좇는 연구가 아니라 우리에게 과거를 돌아보고, 현재의 나를 제대로 파악하기 위한 의미 있는 작업이다. 인문학의 본령이 인간의 근원적인 문제, 인간과 인간을 둘러싼 문화 현상 전반을 다루는 학문이란 점을 생각해 본다면 레트로 연구는 인문학 분야에서 충분히 주목할 만한 주제이다. 이 연구는 한국에서의 레트로 인문학 연구 가능성을 생각하면서 관련 내용을 살펴보았다. 이 연구를 통해서 차후 국내에서 레트로에 대한 전문적인 연구가 활성화되기를 기대한다.
