The main purpose of this study is to promote the export of domestic marine equipment industry by investigating the relationship between export promotion policy and overseas market performance, and the moderating role of company capabilities and market environments. It has been investigated that government policies and corresponding promotion programs by industrial support agencies have a positively significant relationship with the overseas market performance of the domestic marine equipment industry. In addition, it is observed that managerial capability of corresponding companies and a relaxation of trade barriers by partner countries positively moderated the relationship between the policies and overseas market performance. It is expected that our study can contribute to the development of integrative policy measures for the industry from the perspective of export incentives, managerial capability, and bilateral trade policy.

조선해양 및 관련 기자재 산업은 우리나라 국가경제에서 매우 중요한 전략 분야로 인식되어 왔다. 최근의 세계적인 경기침체로 인해 조선해양기자재 산업 역시 어려움에 직면하고 있으며, 이를 타개하기 위한 방안으로 정부에서는 내수 중심의 조선해양기자재 업체들의 글로벌 벤더화 를 지원하기 위한 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 이러한 지원 프로그램의 정책 효과는 기업의 내부 역량과 외부적인 경영환경 등 다양한 요인에 의해 영향을 받을 것이다. 본 연구는 부산, 울산, 경남 지역에 밀집된 조선해양기자재 업체를 대상으로 정부차원의 수출지원정책과 실제 기업의 해외진출성과 사이의 관계에서 기업의 내부역량과 외부환경 요인의 조절효과를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 해당 지역 기업을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과, 정부정책에 따라 시행되는 다양한 수출지원 프로그램은 조선해양기자재 업체의 해외진출 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 내부역량 요인 중 기업가역량과 외부환경 요인 중 상대 국가 무역장벽 수준이 통계적으로 유의한 조절효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 해외진출을 모색하는 기업을 대상으로 하는 수출지원 정책을 수립하는데 있어서 유용한 시사점을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
