This study applied the oral life history research method to look at the history of Korean Judo by reviewing the life of Chung Sam hyun who won the medal from the international Judo competition. To collect the required data for Chung Sam hyun, this study proceeded 4 times of interview for 2 hour each 8 hours in total through the date on 9, 17, 23 and 30 April 2019 and also analyzed those records accordingly. To secure the authenticity this study reviewed the records with the research team members and come to a conclusion as below. First, the study confirmed the background story of Chung Sam hyun that he was born in 1941 when Korea was under Japanese governing then lived a hard life but he overcame this hard time with Judo and he was able to gain the medal from the international competition for the first of Korea as a national team player. Second, the study also confirmed the background story of him that he managed the national team in 1984 Olympic and dedicated the first gold medal of Korea in Judo as manager. Also confirmed that he was well recognized by the fact that he improved the competence of Judo players as a manager. He also actively played for Korean Judo to be globalized by working as a international judger and also an international committee member in his life. Third, this study has seen that he appreciates Judo in his life attitude. Finally, this study confirmed that he dedicated his whole life only for Judo through his life path as a Judo national team player, manager, sports educator and philosopher.

이 연구는 한국인 최초로 국제대회 유도 종목에서 메달획득을 획득한 정삼현의 생애를 조명하여 한국 유도의 역사 를 살펴보고자 구술생애사 연구방법을 시도하였다. 정삼현에 대한 자료 수집을 위해 2019년 4월 9일, 17일, 23일, 30일 총 4회에 걸쳐 약 2시간씩 총 8시간 동안 면담을 진행하였으며 면담자료를 전사하여 분석하였다. 자료의 진실성 확보를 위해 선정된 연구제보자와 자료를 검토하였고 다음의 연구결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 정삼현은 1941년 식민지 시대 에 일본에서 태어나 힘겨운 삶이 시작되었으나 유도를 통해 극복하며 국가대표선수가 되어 1967년 국제대회에서 첫 메달 을 획득한 생애를 통해 한국 유도 역사상 첫 국제대회 메달획득에 대한 배경을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 정삼현의 유도지도자로 서 삶을 통해 1984년 LA 올림픽에서 한국 유도 첫 올림픽 금메달 획득에 대한 배경을 알 수 있었다. 그는 지도자로서 유도 경기력 향상에 이바지한 공로를 인정받았을 뿐만 아니라 국제심판과 국제경기임원의 역할에도 충실히 임하며 유도 의 국제화를 통한 발전을 위하여 적극적으로 활동하였음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 유도의 존재를 감사히 여기며 유도를 통해 깨달은 것을 잊지 않고 유도의 유익함을 전하고자 매일 유도를 하는 모습에서 그의 유도 사랑을 알 수 있었다. 유도국가대 표선수와 지도자, 그리고 체육교육자와 철학자의 삶을 통해 오직 유도와 체육의 발전을 위해 살아온 생애를 확인할 수 있었다.
