Gyeongsangbuk-do is one of main production bases of Korean ICT industry. The region's ICT industry has been developed by lagre firms in the region. It is said that as the large firms have invested in developing countries such as China and southeast Asia, the region's production and export of ICT manufacturing industry have been stagnated. This paper investigates the reason of the stagnation of the industry in the region. The paper investigates whether overseas direct investment( ODI) of the region has negative impact on the region's export in ICT manufacturing industry. The study showed that although the other regions‘ ODI has positive impact on the region's export, the region's own ODI does not significantly affect the export in the industry. It is found that the region's recent export stagration is not significantly related to the region's overseas direct investment, but related to structural change of the industry.

경북은 경기와 더불어 우리나라 최대 ICT제조업 생산집적지이다. 경북지역의 ICT 제조업 성 장은 국내 대기업들의 생산사업장을 중심으로 이루어졌으나 국내기업들의 해외직접투자가 확대 되고 경북지역에 대한 지속적인 투자가 이루어지지 않으면서 경북지역의 ICT 생산과 수출이 크게 위축되고 있다. 본 연구는 최근 경북지역의 ICT 수출위축의 원인을 파악하는 것을 목적으 로 한다. 특히 국내기업의 해외직접투자가 경북의 ICT 수출에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는가에 집중하였다. 경북지역 ICT산업의 수출함수를 분석한 결과, 경북 ICT제품 수출은 한국(경북지역 제외)의 해외직접투자에는 긍정적인 영향을 받지만, 경북지역 자체 해외직접투자에는 통계적 으로 유의미한 영향을 받지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 최근 경북지역의 ICT 수출 감소의 주요인은 해 당 기업들의 해외직접투자 확대라기보다는 ICT 수출구조 변화에 적절히 대응하지 못한 결과로 보인다.
