This reviews the childhood of Ryu In-seok and searches for application. Today’s juveniles’ personal-centered lives in the era of 4th industrial motivated this research. This study looks for some alternatives for learning and character education of those personal-centered lives of juveniles. Ryu In-seok has more records of activities than others and the records deal with the relation with communities. It divides Uiam’s youth into childhood and adolescence. It studies his scholastic mind of human affection and the righteousness in his childhood while studying his practice of self-directed learning in his adolescence. Ryu In-seok was born with human affection and righteousness. This was related with the community. He did everything by himself and everyone complimented his behavior. This study applies this way to character education. Ryu In-seok had a passion for learning and was sympathetic. He studied to be the right scholar and gave infinite love for the community. He did self-directed learning and his goal is to realize happy community. This study applies self-directed learning on the basis of his way.

본고에서는 류인석의 성장기는 어떤 모습이었는지를 알아보고, 그 활용에 따른 방법을 찾아보았다. 집필 동기는 4차 산업혁명 시대에 개인 위주의 생활을 하는 청소년들 때문이었다. 본고는 개인생활에 따른 청소년들의 인성교육과 공부에 필요 한 대안을 찾고자 했다. 류인석을 대상으로 고찰한 것은 비교적 다른 사람에 비해 행적이 많았고, 기록은 개인의 문제이기에 앞서 공동체 사회를 배경으로 주어졌기 때문이다. 류인석의 성장기는 크게 유아기와 청소년기로 보았다. 유아기는 인애와 의리라는 선비정신에 초점을 맞추어 고찰했고, 청소년기는 선비가 되기 위해 자기중심학습을 하고 실천하는 면을 다루었다. 류인석은 날 때부터 인애와 의리를 타고났다. 이는 공동체와 관련되었다. 모든 사실은 의암 스스로 했고, 그런 행동에 사람들은 칭찬을 했다. 이를 바탕으로 인성교 육과 관련한 활용을 제시했다. 류인석은 공부에 대한 열정이 대단했고, 눈물도 많았다. 의암의 공부는 올바른 선비가 되기 위함이고, 공동체를 위해 무한한 사랑을 보냈다. 여기서 자기중심학습 을 다루었는데, 의암은 이미 자기중심학습을 하고 있었고, 목적은 행복한 공동체 구현이었다. 이를 바탕으로 자기중심학습을 활용하는 면을 제시하였다.
