An Analysis of the 'Korean Identity' Recognition of Naturalized youth with Migrant Background
초록
영어
The study sought to identify Korean identity among Naturalized youth with Migrant Background. By doing so, it also attempts to make policy suggestions for better embracing these youths to Korean society. Study subjects are young men and women aged between 19 and 24 who have naturalized during their school attending age or currently are preparing to do so. Subjects were selected through snowball sampling. For the naturalized youths to minimize friction in becoming full-fledged Koreans, mainstream Koreans must change their idea of being Korean. To this end, the government needs to offer training and public campaigns to reduce discrimination and encourage cultural understanding. For the youths to establish their identity without being confused, local community leaders must be able to offer them training programs so that they can become strong members of Korean society while retaining their naturalization, multicultural, and bilingual experiences. Finally, the initial acclimatization programs offered by the government must consider psychological, emotional aspects as well as language training.
