A Comparison of Chinese and Korean EFL Learners’ Self-directed Learning Readiness

From the beginning of the 21st century, the cultivation and improvement of college students' English autonomous learning ability has become an important symbol of deepening college English teaching reform.The research in this field has payed more and more attention from the academic circle and foreign language teachers. Based on the opportunity of studying in South Korea, the author has made some surveys on English autonomous learning among college students in China and South Korea.Through comparison, we found that there were obvious differences between Chinese and Korean college students in English autonomous learning.This paper analyzes the reasons of the differences between the two countries' students in independent learning of English and puts forward some countermeasures.Although autonomous learning of English is the trend of college English teaching, there are still many aspects to be improved for Chinese students.
