The purpose of this study is to examine the aspects of performing Hwanghae-do Seongju-gut and then draw the meaning of it by comparing it with in other regions. Hwanghae-do Seongju-gut is a kind of gut performed on special occasions, for example, when people build a new house or move. In ordinary individual gut, too, is carried out, but Seongju-gut has distinctive meaning as showing complex performing aspects, for instance, various gut plays that have been handed down. This study first considers the gutgeori composition of Seongju-gut by comparing it with general jaesu-gut. Through that, this author has found is performed after in Seongju-gut and it has different meaning from that of in general gut which is carried out before . Next, examining the aspects of performing Hwanghae-do Seongju-gut precisely, this study has revealed it is gut pursuing individuals’ prosperity. Also, the aspects of various present in Seoul-gut, Donghaean-gut, Jeju-gut, and Honam-gut have been investigated. They exist distinctly in different regions as some exist as part of gutgeori, not Seongju-gut, and others are present as individual gutgeori or exist showing the complex aspects of individual gutgeori. According to the results of examining the contents, various contents have been found, for example, calling back ancestral spirits with general muga (巫歌; dancing and singing), expressing the ideal of life with full-length gyosul muga, telling the life story of god Seongju with shamanistic myth, or wishing for luck with a variety of gut plays. Based on that, this author has looked into the meaning of Hwanghae-do Seongju-gut. Presenting the fact that Seongju-gut is drawn in Sin Yun-bok’s , too, this study suggests the possibility that Seongju-gut should have long tradition in gangsinmu-gut regions as in Hwanghae-do gut and Seoul-gut. Through that, this author concludes it is the fruition to study the meaning of Hwanghae-do Seongju-gut which has hardly been studied so far with here.

이 글은 황해도 성주굿 <성주거리>의 연행 양상을 살핀 후 다른 지역 <성주거 리>와 비교하여 의미를 도출한 글이다. 황해도 성주굿은 집을 신축하거나 이사한 경우처럼 특별한 경우에 연행하는 굿이다. 일반적인 개인굿에도 <성주거리>가 연 행되지만 성주굿 <성주거리>는 다양한 굿놀이가 전승되면서 복합적인 연행 양상 을 보여 의미가 남다르다. 이 글에서는 먼저 성주굿의 굿거리 구성을 일반적인 재 수굿과 비교하여 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 성주굿에서는 <성주거리>가 <군웅거리> 다음에 연행되어, <군웅거리> 이전에 연행되는 일반적인 굿의 <성주거리>와는 의미가 다름을 제시했다. 다음으로 황해도 성주굿 <성주거리>의 연행 양상을 상 세하게 살펴 개인의 영화를 추구하는 굿임을 드러냈다. 서울굿, 동해안굿, 제주굿, 호남굿 등에 존재하는 다양한 <성주거리>의 연행 양상을 살폈다, 성주굿이 아닌 굿거리의 한 부분으로 존재하는 지역, 개별 굿거리로 존재하는 지역, 개별 굿거리 의 복합적인 모습으로 존재하는 지역으로 편차가 있다. 그리고 내용을 살펴본 결 과, 단형 무가로 청배하기, 장편 무가로 삶의 이상 표현하기, 이야기 무가로 성주신 일대기 이야기하기, 다양한 굿놀이로 복 기원하기 등 다양한 내용이다. 이를 바탕 으로 황해도 성주굿의 의미를 살폈다. 신윤복의 <무녀신무> 그림에도 성주굿이 그려져 있음을 제시하여 성주굿이 황해도굿, 서울굿과 같은 강신무굿 지역에서는 오랜 전통일 가능성도 제시했다. 이를 통해 그동안 살펴지지 않은 황해도 성주굿 의 의미를 <성주거리>를 중심으로 살핀 것은 성과라고 제시했다.
