Regarding the present age as the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution driven by cutting-edge technologies, this article first examines whether Korean churches can have a sufficient ability to discern the flow of this age and the current social phenomena. Unfortunately, Korean churches have failed to have such an ability in the past age as well as in the present. In many cases, they have failed to have it by concentrating all their efforts only on their own growth. In the age of military dictatorship, IMF financial crisis, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, most Korean churches have not been able to communicate smoothly with the society to which they belong. As a result, they have not had the ability to properly discern the times. Based on this critical reflection, this article asserts that Korean churches should no longer fail to possess that ability in this age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and suggests several practical ways to help them possess it in the field of ministry and through theological education. The first suggestion is the cultivation of essential knowledge of what technology is; the second is the cultivation of basic knowledge about the principles of the advanced technologies and about the flow of their development; the third is the construction of the updated curriculum of seminary (or Christian university); the fourth is the constitution of contemporary pastoral re-education programs; the fifth is the composition of timely worship and church education programs. Throughout these suggestions, this article ultimately anticipate that Korean churches properly grasp the current era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and then, they canl possess the ability to discern any era in the future and to communicate smoothly with the real society to which the church belongs.

본 논문은 현 시대를 첨단 테크놀로지에 의해 주도되는 4차 산업혁명 시대로 파악 하고, 한국 교회가 이러한 시대를 분별할 능력을 지니고 있는지 진단하는 것으로부터 논의를 시작한다. 과거로부터 현재를 검토해볼 때 안타깝게도 시대에 대한 분별력은 한국 교회가 지녀온 가장 취약한 능력들 중 하나였다. 그간 한국교회는 시대의 흐름 과 사회의 상황을 파악하기 보다는 교회의 양적 성장과 내적 신앙에만 집중함으로써 시대적 분별력을 지니는 데에 실패했다. 대표적으로 한국사회의 큰 변화가 있던 군부 독재 시대에도, IMF 재정 위기 시대에도, 4차 산업혁명시대에도 대부분의 한국교회들 은 교회가 속해 있는 사회와 원활히 소통하지 못해왔으며, 그로 인해 그 시대를 올바 로 분별하는 능력을 소유하지 못해왔다. 본 논문은 이러한 비판적 자성을 논의의 출 발점으로 삼은 후 이처럼 안타까운 전례를 지속해온 한국교회가 작금의 4차 산업혁명 시대에서만큼은 이전과는 달리 시대적 분별력을 갖추어야함을 주장한다. 또한 이러한 주장을 구현시키기 위해 본 논문은 한국 교회가 작금의 4차 산업혁명시대를 분별하는 능력을 갖추기 위한 구체적인 방안들을 제시한다. 그 방안의 첫째는 테크놀로지가 무 엇인지에 대한 본질적인 지식의 함양이고, 둘째는 첨단 테크놀로지의 발전 양상과 기 본 원리에 대한 기초적인 지식의 함양이며, 셋째는 시대성 있는 신학교(혹은 기독교 종합대학)의 교육 과정과 내용의 구축이며, 넷째는 시대성 있는 목회자 재교육 프로그 램의 구성이고, 다섯째는 시대성 있는 예배와 교회 교육 프로그램의 구성이다. 이러한 방안들은 이론에 바탕을 두지만 이론의 틀을 넘어서서 구체적인 교회 목회 현장과 신 학 교육 과정에 적용될 수 있는 실천적 차원의 방안으로서 구상되어 제시된다. 이러 한 방안들을 제시함으로써 본 논문이 최종적으로 기대하는 것은 한국교회가 작금의 4 차 산업혁명시대의 흐름을 제대로 파악함으로써 앞으로는 어떠한 시대를 만나든지 그 시대를 분별할 수 있는 능력을 소유하게 되는 것이며, 이를 통해 교회가 속해 있는 실제 사회와 원활히 소통할 수 있도록 하는 것이다.
